Word reaches me the Ricoh's bidding for an American Football franchise.

But then consider the reasons why Haskell was over. His family's (former?) involvement with the Jacksonville Jaguars is the link, they'd come over. Also bear in mind all this talk people have banged on about Tata's research facility coming to Warwick University, and Jaguar land Rover's involvement in any deal.
It's set up beautifully, and cheaper than Wembley.
They also see a chance to take over the football club. They're keeping an eye on how the Hull Tigers rebrand fallout goes, as they really want a suite of franchises, and us rebranded as Coventry Jaguars too. It'd help on economies of scale with merchandise, printing of tickets, stadium layout and general brand identity. They see it as helping sponsorship too as the corporate pull of soccer and American Football will appeal to plenty of companies who'd never look at us before. Personally I can see how if it goes well it might offer a way out for the ice hockey and Speedway teams too, as they see it as an opportunity for a massive, massive organisation all under the one identity.
Suddenly Rugby looks small-fry eh? When we can have our games beamed into the US through the American Football link it'll boost our presence, boost our merchandising across the globe.
