Totally agree.Football should be about stress and pressure. You support teams for these sort of games.
Big crowds and a tense atmosphere. Highs and lows are far better than mediocrity.
BrilliantIs that you Brad?
I’m going to my 46th league game this season hopefully I’m 67 and I’m like that every away game59. On Saturday we were row E, so quite near the pitch. I found myself being quite aggressive towards their players, doing the wanker sign and stuff.
Outside the ground this Luton supporter said something like "up the Hatters. Saw you crying at Wembley". I told him to fuck off. Most unlike me. Being so close to the pitch turned me into an animal!
ErrrTotally agree.
I love taking the missus up the Butts on a Saturday afternoon when there's no football on.
I'm not that old but do notice my heart rate going up drastically if I'm watching or listening. Given how may medical incidents there seem to be these days I have started wondering whether there'll be a time when it's going to be best to not do it for my health and just check scores afterwards.
And this is despite me knowing it's just a game and it's not the end of the world. But I'm already feeling anxious and nervous about next weekend.
I must admit I close my eyes now everytime the ball goes near our goal.
My Mrs says if City lose she's going shopping all afternoon and round to her friends for dinner, she doesn't want to be in the house when I get back, apparently ill be unbearable, like a bear with a sore head.
No idea what she's on about
It's only a game!

EIGHT BLOODY ONE!
(You'd need to have read or seen Ripping Yarns to get the relevance. Always makes me smile when I visualise Barnstoneworth United getting another pasting).
It would help if Lampard picked the right formation to help get the best out of the players at his disposal. For example two up front, Simms can't operate as a lone striker.Define "older" I'm 46.
My stress levels have been through the roof really, from prior to WBA.
It has affected sleep, my toilet habits and I am a very calm and measured person generally, but when we conceded on Saturday, I found myself smashing my hand into the kitchen worktop repeatedly in frustration - can't remember ever doing that before...
I have played football.
I have worked for a football club
I have worked with ex professionals, coaches and managers that have worked at the highest levels.
I know what is on the line (not saying anyone else doesn't- just in context to stress), how rare it can be for a club like ours to be in positions such as this.
How important it is.
Despite all of this - I just still can't understand how and why Collins has been picked when he has. I just can't.....
For me, this is going to be a long week.
Everyone.saying, yeah we'll beat Middlesbrough -
But everyone was saying, yeah - we'll beat Plymouth/Luton.....
We have no devine right to do so and will have to be SO much better than we have been in the last two games.....
I'm fast approaching 72. (My missus is 75 with alzheimers). I'm her full time carer, so can never get to games. Also, living in Malvern doesn't help! Anyway, I've survived four, yes FOUR heart attacks, had a double bypass and had 5 stents inserted over the last 20 years, but I still watch CCFC when they're on Sky or listen in to the CWR commentary. I wear my City top with pride, (both home and away tops). I've even convinced a great neighbour of mine (who is a Man Utd nut!), to follow our progress! He now loves the City as his 2nd team!
My first game at HR was in 1964. That got me hooked! I've since been a steward at Highfield Rd and seen some great games over the decades.
While at BBC CWR, I got to interview Gordon Strachan and also had a good bollocking off Ron Atkinson!
Do I think we'll make the play offs and Premier League footie next season? I can only hope so. 34 years in the top flight was an amazing achievement. I'm no longer in the best of health, and pray I outlive my missus. (She'd never survive on her own). As for reaching the Premier League, that would be the dream! I could die a happy old man! Lots of love to you all!

I can fully sympathise with the comments here. I was a season ticket holder for 37 years . I had moved away from Warwickshire with a 2 hr journey to go to the games. Also a number of friends had passed away who I attended matches with. I occasionally still go to home games but manage to watch all the games on tv one way or the other with thanks to my sons IT knowledge!
I find that I have to watch with no sound as I find it stressful. I am not sure I will be able to watch the game on Saturday and may just keep a check on the score. If we get to the playoffs I will then watch the recording. If you had told me this 20 years ago I would have said you were mad.
I still love the sky blues.

I remember that away game at Spurs ,think I had 6 pints before the game to calm myself down still didn't work.Whilst I am a bit nervous about this game, it's going to be nothing like some of the games of old
In the away end at Villa Park, 2-0 down and everyone forgot about the football and we all paid attention to the radio (yes that old) where I think it was Notts County vs Luton - I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong, my memory isn't as good as it was. Their result went our way and we stayed up.
Or the game we had to beat Tottenham away and other results had to go our way. I couldn't eat until the final whistle had gone.
One of the things about being a Coventry supporter is life is never dull - be it in a good way, bad way or just disappointing

Wasn't that also the season when Boro basically decided without permission to b) say they were not turning up for game because they had too many injuries and were deducted points ?The tension that day was incredible with no let up because due to the late kick off evenat HT we were keeping an eye on the other 2 games which were in progress.
It was an amazing experience, but I still maintain, if we'd gone down that day the club wouldnt have ended up in the shit it did.
We might not of moved grounds too. We might of had to stick with Highfield RdThe tension that day was incredible with no let up because due to the late kick off evenat HT we were keeping an eye on the other 2 games which were in progress.

Thanks BB we City supporters have to stick togetherThat's a very kind offer TSB, top man.
I'm starting to find the stress quite concerning during games and often think I should turn it off. Just wondering if others suffer the same.
I love Tewkesbury. Me and the wife open walked up and down the high street browsing. We'd stop off at the Nottingham Arms for a drink, then walk back to our car.Live near Tewkesbury happy to come over and have a chat about the Sky Blues anytime,
