It's difficult to look at the table below and not feel incredibly confident about this season.

It looks at the table as it stands, what each team would need to do from here to reach 90 points, and then compares that with how they've performed over their last 46 matches.

In summary, we can afford to drop our standards slightly from what we've done over the last 12 months and still make 90.

Compared with literally every other 'challenger' who would need to see a SIGNIFICANT improvement on what they've been doing to get anywhere close to 90. The only side who you can't properly judge using this table are Ipswich who obviously played most of their last 46 games in the PL, but whether we finish 2nd or 1st the destination is the same.

Anyway, in summary IT. IS. HAPPENING.

I think I’ll be an unbeliever until they either lift the trophy or the we are premier league signs go up.

I see no reason why, just an extreme skeptic when cov are involved for some reason

I'm the same. Despite the last few years I've supported us long enough to expect the worst in all situations.

93 points still available. I think of them 93 points, we need maybe 50? 55? 60 I think would guarantee autos! To get 60 points we're looking at 1.9 points per game.
Though people keep saying there are no "100point teams" in the league this season standing out, we're well ahead of Leeds and Burnleys curve at the same point last season who had 29 and 27 points respectively after round 15.

Does anyone else feel like this is a repeat of the 19/20 league winning season? The season it felt like we’d beat everyone home and away after we got going.

WBA and Boro are two tough teams but I just think we’ll beat them both. In fact, to run the risk of being called delusional, this is the year we beat PNE at Deepdale.

That's a very interesting table, in 2 or 3 games time it's possible virtually every team outside the current top 2 or top 3 could require an extrapolated total of over 100 points.

It's not just how well we are doing, but how comparatively badly other teams are.

On the (big?) assumption that 'borough falter with the manager going I can't see them or the next 4 currently behind them down to Ipswich being genuine top 2 contenders.

56 pts seem high. However, more numbers.

Lampard: 44 games 86 pts 1.95 pts per game.

If we perform the same then.

31 games left = 60.45 pts

Not ready to look that far a head yet need a minimum of 9 pts from the next 5, get that and ill start to look at what others need and what we need per game to make it.

Going to be a good watch, and going to get nervy if we carry on our current trend.

Totally with your sentiment. However if you take the lyrics literally its about avoiding the drop in top flight. So maybe we should save it until we are promoted again and fighting to stay up! How good would another rendition of 'we are staying up' again back in top flight?!!

Just played it and yes its a bit 'cheeesy' but its wonderful in its own way.

I mean instead of just enjoying it all you start worrying about when we lose or go on a bad run and don’t focus on the game you’re watching or enjoying our results and our play and our goals etc etc

The journey will no doubt be more fun than the destination if we see it through. Prepare for regular pumpings, VAR, getting spoken about more by generic Youtube dipshits who know nothing outside the 'big 6', influx of random foreign accounts all over our socials (although admittedly they couldn't talk much more shite than most the people already on our socials.)

Wouldn’t say it’s ‘not believing’ per se. More cautious with the amount of games left. I’ve seen enough to suggest we’re good enough, but I’ve also seen the table say there’s 31 games left

Yeah I do agree and my initial post was done deliberately flippantly given we are now (checks Twitter comments from all non-Coventry fans) "the most arrogant fanbase in the country".

It still stands though that every other team needs to achieve a ppg return in their last 31 games far beyond anything they've got close to in the last year.

We can slightly drop our ppg of the last year from about 2 to 1.8 for the last 31 games and still hit 90.

Its a massive opportunity. Just need to keep plugging away and hope we don't suffer a huge injury crisis in Nov/Dec ahead of being able to reinforce.

- 1.8 ppg is still a lot (far better than we have managed over a full season since we got promoted)
- Ipswich’s stats in your figure are muted because they were in the prem- I would expect them to average around 2ppg
- It only takes one of the others to step up and we could be under pressure.

Obviously we are the clear favourites by some margin but it is far from a certainty.

Seeing how Sunderland have done so far has given me some hope about if we go up.

Do agree about all the off the pitch annoyances though we'll get for being in the Premier League.
The Coventry City social media comments were painful enough when we played Man Utd in the FA cup semi's.

I referenced Ipswich in my initial post. I agree, I think they will be up there.

What we did in 2020- Oct 24 feels less relevant to what we've done in the most recent 12 month period, surely? We've absolutely destroyed 1.8 ppg for a year.

Boro, Stoke etc to hit 90 points would need to be smashing 2 ppg from here on in when in the last year they've achieved 1.5/1.3 respectively. Of course it could happen but you'd get some decent odds on either of them.

I think the one thing we can all agree on is we will never get a better opportunity than this.

That’s all there is to it. Relegated clubs off to slower starts than usual, settled squad with good harmony and good coaching to implement a playing style that’s a bit ahead of the curve.

Need to get through to January at least in contention then add the required quality where we need more of it.
