I'll start the new thread for this year by saying that I watched a great movie on Kodi this afternoon. It was released in (I think) 2018, but worthy of inclusion here.
It was called "The Twelfth Man" and is based on true events. It's a war film (without all the usual battle fights etc) but it is a Norwegian film with English subtitles, but honestly, you don't even realise you're reading the subs after a few minutes. Really well worth a watch if you like factual stuff like me.

If anyone likes sci fi, stumbled across a decent one that I’d never heard of until tonight. Upgrade (on sky store and google play). Liked it even though sci fi isn’t usually my thing.

I had a similar issue with my Sainsburys order. It suggested that because I ordered bacon I might be interested in 12 1st class stamps!

I watched a film on TV last night that was released in 1993 but had never seen it. It just never appealed to me. Anyway, the film was Philadelphia starring Tom Hanks. Opened my eyes a bit to the bigotry surrounding the gay community.

Watched "Split" last night, only due to the fact that James McAvoy is on the front of the "Glass" poster! And immediately worked out he was in it too! (whose a clever boy).

Anyhow, pretty good and looking forward to Glass, as I thought "Unbreakable" was awesome.

Sort off. You have to see the 2000 film 'Unbreakable' with Bruce Willis to get the idea, Glass is a sequel.

We're watching a very good series on Kodi at the moment. Based on a true story, it's called "Gangland Undercover". Basically, the story is centered around a biker gang and an FBI "plant" who infiltrates the gang for about 3 years. Good, edge of the seat thriller with fights and other stuff. That's all I'll say without spoiling anything, but well worth a watch! Currently two seasons made, hopefully more. I'm at the end of season 1.
Can't find it on Netflix though.

Finally got round to watching A Quiet Place today.

Absolutely loved it. Clever, brilliantly acted, lovely cinematography and very tense.

If the monsters didn't look quite so CGI I would be close to giving it 10/10.

They react to sound and are staggeringly quick and powerful, but are blind. Everyone has to learn sign language and speak in the tiniest whisper. The people all walk barefooot and lay down sand in order to make a path and not make the slightest bit of noise.......only trouble is, one of the main characters is just about to give birth.

Bit like Birdbox. Remarkably short film too, with a running time of just 80 mins.

I recognise the description Otis. Think I spotted this on Netflix? I'll look out for it again.

Probably not for the museum alone. I'm in lake district for a few days and it was worth the small diversion.

While there I watched a couple of shorts (med size screen with 20 seats), one where Stan helps Ollie clean up the house when his Missus comes home unexpectantly early, needless to say the task did not go well and the house was burned down. The other where they are fish mongers who decide to cut out the middle man and buy a boat. The boat ends up with more holes than it started with & there are some routines with a water hose and buckets of water.

The proprieters are fanatical fans & v. friendly. The exhibits are potted history with many photos of Stans family as well as of Stan & Ollie, some furniture that came out of the house he was born in, some costumes worn in a film and lots of Stan & Ollie figurines, posters and merchandise from their most famous days.

The statue is round the corner from museum outside the town hall (I think). Unseen in my pic a small dog is tugging at Ollies trouser leg and there 'most certainly are' some lines from the films embossed in the pavement.

Ulverston itself is worth a visit. Nice little place, but don't go Sun am like I did as not much is open then.

Recently watched Widows - thought it was pretty good. A Quiet Place which I really liked. Birdbox is good too. Saw The Favourite, which is odd.
