Already speaking about doing it every 2 years. That will mean for the top European players they’ll basically not have a summer break ever. Ridiculous.

Nope - didn't even know it was on! Only rarely watch Prem games, so certainly not bothered about this money-making exercise for FIFA.

I am sure the clubs could refuse to go. They only seem to whinge about player welfare when it suits them.

Watching the U21 Euros tournament over this crap, it's essentially just glorified friendlies, pointless money making, just like the nations league with the players getting knackered in the process.

I would’ve thought that it would crash and burn, but there are supposedly people out there who genuinely care about the Nations League, so modern football fans are a persuadable sort I guess.

Nations league I can sort of understand because it's your country competing and still a high standard of footy, but tuning in for Man City vs 'Al Ain' can't be too exciting surely, they've struggled to sell tickets for the club world cup as a whole so it just shows really

Only riposte is that Nations League games generally only filled other international friendly slots.

Admittedly I will be watching the game this afternoon where the Aukland FC postmen take on Bayern Munich!

Close game this, like having a San Marino in the qualifiers. A waste of time.

Yep, no thoughts towards the players. Some haven’t had a rest since the end of last season.

Can’t bring myself to watch it. A pointless cup which is only taking place to make extra £££, represents everything that is getting worse with the “sport” if you can even call it that now

Prime example: Harry Kane. Since the start of the 23/24 season he’s had 3 weeks’ rest (not including time out injured). 3 weeks off in 2 years.

It's so American, even the way the players come out.

How much are they all getting paid? The players could have easily taken it up with their clubs.

Possibly a bit, but if they are ALL (see next post) working other jobs, probably not a lot!!!
Probably cost a fair whack just to get them all over!!

The sponsors should really be making sure they all get paid properly.

Auckland receive over $2.5m just for participating so you’d hope they’re sorting their players out…

I tuned in for 20 seconds yesterday - It must have been the only 20 seconds when Bayern Munich didn't score a goal.
I have to say the silence from the stadium was quite eerie.

Yeah but money...

Potentially worth over £100m to the top clubs.
Can see them doing it again in 2 years time.... hopefully if nothing else it stops the previously mooted idea of having the actual World Cup every 2 years.
