It’s a very big blow to his title chances.

Without a DNF or non-points finish for Oscar that definitely takes a lot out of the title race. Takes some of the pressure off for him

That’s right up there with Haji’s miss for most painful moment of the weekend

Genuinely felt for Lando. I'd want them to sort it on track

This is set up beautifully for Lando now.

Probably be the next to bottle it into the wall...

Big test for him

Hes got an open goal here Lando, needs to show he has the mentality to convert this open goal into pole and win

This has been an absolute nightmare from Piastri this weekend.

It's all on Lando now to take advantage, let's see if he can make it to the end of the race without a bottle of his own.

The only other thing guaranteed to happen in a race is the obligatory McLaren pit stop botch.

It'll be interesting to see if this was just "one of those weekends" for Oscar or if it's the first signs of pressure. If it's the latter and Lando carries on...well...being Lando then we could see a Brawn style title win that relies heavily on a lot of early wins and goes down to the wire. Red Bull look like they've come on a long way but if Max gets anywhere near the title it'll be ludicrous considering where we were.

Realistically though Oscar still wins fairly comfortably.

Amazing! Get yourself sacked and walk away with a £52m payoff!

Interesting how Lando gets into traffic with some slow VCARBs and can't even capitalise his biggest chance of getting the title. What a bottler

Probably get chastised for this, but I really hope Max comes back and wins it. He is much more of a worthy champion than either Lando or Oscar, and it will vault him into the pantheon of GOAT. I mean hes in the conversation already for me

I'm not sure I'd be mentally ready for that kind of capitulation.... That'd be like City running away with the championship for most of the season and ending up bottling it

Joking aside though, if Red Bull turn up and are fully competitive in Singapore, I actually think it might be done.

I dislike a lot about the nepobaby knob but I'm kinda with you. Norris doesn't deserve a title - chucked away too many chances, not always all on him tbf - and the extent to which Max can outperform whoever is in the other car and get stuff done when it matters is nuts. Like Hamilton in the seasons when Ferrari and Vettel had the better car and binned it.

Lando getting his elbows out at the start. Don't think that was in the papaya rules

What’s the bet they now fuck up Oscar’s pitstop and he ends up behind Charles

So how do we see papaya rules panning out then? The constructors is done so it's a straight fight now, and Lando's shown a willingness to get his elbows out. Oscar obviously none too impressed with yesterday.

It's not going to reach Hamilton/Rosberg levels but cracks starting to appear and they've made a rod for their backs (as everyone suspected) with swapping positions before. I think Oscar will still win but we could see some spicy moves if they're together on track and the points gap keeps creeping down.

Edit: I say spicy, will probably just be some moves like yesterday followed by incessant whining on the radio

I don't realistically see what they can enforce now the constructors is wrapped up. They can't get away with showing any favouritism one way or the other, and nor should they while both drivers are in the fight. They'll just end up with one very unhappy driver. All they can do is what Mercedes did in 2016 and say as long as you're not making contact again, you're racing.

I hate saying this, but if I'm Max Verstappen, I'm rubbing my hands with glee. Because all of a sudden I'm in a fight I was all but out of, and my only opponents are suddenly looking shaky.

Even as a lifelong McLaren fan it would be pretty funny if Max won.

All Lando has to do is not drive into the back of Max tomorrow and he should do fairly well in terms of the championship…

Looks like part one of this is happening. I swear to god, if the other bit of happens, then come May, I am going to be very unhappy that I posted this

If next weekend is anything similar to this one then McLaren are surely going to have to throw their weight behind one driver else they run a real risk of Max sneaking in and pinching the title and if he does, it will surely be the greatest comeback in the history of the sport.
