Compared to now? It was fucking Barcelona. Murphy, Wood, Christie, Fleck, McSheffery, Baker, McGoldrick, Wilson.

Compare that to: Burge, Turnbull, Haynes, Rose, Reid, Jones, Tudgay, etc.

I wasn't comparing to now I was saying that it wasn't as good as "very good"

Yep, but if the issues with SISU were that bad you would assume he still wouldn't take the role.

Points to the fact he had his head turned by Huddlesfield as opposed to SISU being the biggest driver.

I think he performed OK for the squad he has, I thought we massively underperformed prior to him, that's all I meant.

Yep Robins returns
Not too sure on whether it's a good or bad choice, just hoping he can get us back out of league two next season.

Enjoyed our football under Robbins - we had some good players at the time, so not sure how much credit he deserves; but if he is coming, it'll be forgive and forget (if he succeeds - if he doesn't, a lot won't forget!)

Why? He seemed sympathetic to Sisu's view before.

Just very surprised.

I liked him when he was here. However, I think it will be very different this time unless he finds another McGoldrick.

He was a good manager for us I would love if he had of stayed but don't blame him one minute for going especially to a team in a higher division and better run and on bigger wages. It didn't work out and hopefully he saw the potential of turning us around he has plenty of football league experience and I would think he will have us challenging next season IF he gets the right backing from above

Good move and the right decision. Hope it's an 18 month contract minimum and he can get the plans started for next season.

I don't get why he would come back to a club who are set for league 2 football whilst in free fall and with a lower budget than he got last time. Same owners and worse conditions. Something isn't right here.

He may not have a job but blimey he could get a solid league 1 club with half a future easily surely? That's my point really. Come the summer he could of picked between a few league 1 teams. Why come to ccfc now when we are doomed and fans are staying away all the while the club is toxic. Don't get it. Someone explain it to me

Why? He's out of work and did well for us last time. He might even get us promoted again next season.

There doesn't have to be anything sinister behind every decision. I'm more than happy he is coming back. If he thought the job would be beyond him or too difficult he would avoid us like the plague.

Scunthorpe are doing well now. Did robins put in the groundwork and not get the credit? Did well here didn't he. Got a championship job from us.

My point is he surely would have a pick of 2-3 league 1 clubs who don't have a protest every match. No?

Exactly all those managers out there have failed that is why they are unemployed.
Most have had a golden period but are found out in the end.

Well it can't be that bad else he wouldn't jump back into the pot again. If i remember rightly he was equally scathing of the Council and the part they played in our downfall.

Oh I really like the guy and a good manager especially for us. I don't get why a decent manager would touch us when I would assume he could get better offers. Wouldn't need the cash. Just struggling to comprehend.

Every time we get a new manager we are told by posters on here what a good appointment that is Slade included.
So for once I am not going to be optimistic as I am alway left disapointed.
Will see where we end up before I make judgement on this latest appointment.
Hope he turns out to get a statue next to Jimmy but let's not get to excited just yet.

It's irrelevant as to who robins held responsible, he saw the shit storm coming with admin and moving stadium and jumped before it blew up.

He's either desperate or knows something we don't.

Although I'm leaning to desperate

OK a few thoughts.

1) Thanks RS for your time trying to make it work - a thankless task and i think not a genuine reflection on his abilities elsewhere (as shown by decent results at Yeovil, Cardiff and Orient). Won't go down as a CCFC success but frankly few do, and the rot had set in long before he arrived. After the MV run of 6 losses in a row the writing was on the wall. That said, nobody can criticism firing him as a bad decision. All the best RS.

2) MR returning has been mooted by many including myself as a decent solution. Just today after the Slade news, it crossed my mind. Surprising he wasn't appointed in October but maybe TF genuinely though RS would be a better man for the situation? There were't many disagreeing with him on that one, in all fairness.

3) Despite point 2 above, this is clearly a surprise but I think for many Sky Blues fans, it will be a welcome one. It strikes me as an encouraging appointment and maybe improves our very slim chances of survival - if he can string together 3 wins before the cup final, who knows what sort of momentum could be built?

4) Welcome back MR. Clearly, as with Eric Black, nobody who leaves us to take a step up / is wrongfully fired is allowed to be forgotten - clearly we need to see MR fail so we can all get closure =)

5) Don't believe any of the assertions you read about how this means SISU are likely to go. He was offered more money and a higher level of football by Huddersfield, and took it while the going was good. Yes we were facing uncertain times back in 2013 (how times have changed!) but that was the background, not the reason he left. There's likely no connection with the ownership at all.

6) Although I do find the appointment encouraging, I do sadly feel like it won't work out as well for him/us as it did in 2012/13. The right intent is there from TF to get MR back, which is good, but as for MR himself I can't see him being a shit hot success for us twice.

He wouldn't be coming back if he didn't feel he could do a job for us. This is probably the most important appointment we will make in a long time we need an experienced manager to get us out of league two at the first attempt and to gain momentum when we return to league one
