The Czech Republic game now becomes interesting, we have to beat them or it’s a second place finish and a trip to Copenhagen to face what could be Spain

Been in Bell Green club full off England and Scotland fans. Just back home and England were crap, and embarrassed by their performance. But we are back there on Tuesday night hopefully we turn out better than tonight ?

it ain’t worth getting wound up about, that’s them happy now for the next 4 years or whatever until they get to play us again

I did for quite a while yes, missus got plenty of grief for not being 'Scottish enough' growing up there and her family got Anglophobic nonsense for years. Granted the side favoured to win will think they were just crap while the side favoured to lose will think they were quality, the truth is there was very little quality or even much huff and puff from either side. We should have lost 2 or 3-0 and playing like this we'll be gone in the second round.

Hmmm. I think he was looking at that performance through Billy Gilmour's eyes.

Oh well. Point sees us likely through, a point sees the hammer throwers likely out.

fair enough, but I don’t know why you’re so insistent that the result had nothing to do with Scotland doing well, you make it sound like we were playing 11 cardboard cutouts but still didn’t have the ability to score

They have Adams who plays for Southampton albeit not a regular goalscorer, Gilmour at Chelsea, Hanley just promoted with Norwich. McGregor at Celtic too

Thought he did alright, how often do you see him pull it back to the edge of the box for a midfielder to have a strike at Villa, did the exact same thing tonight and the midfield were 10 yards behind play, the team is so disjointed and slow in the build up.

Once Scotland's number 2 got booked for fouling Grealish the priority should have been for G to receive the ball on the edge of their box and run at him.

No, I'm simply saying that it was nothing extraordinary and it was more down to a very poor performance from ourselves more than an excellent game plan of theirs.

Just my view

It was the lack of anyone trying to do anything decisive that ticked me off. There seemed to be numerous passages of play where the player just wanted not to be the one to risk giving the ball away. no thought to looking for the opportunity to play a decisive pass. Whenever James got the ball and headed back towards his own goal, I was peering at the screen to see where the Scottish player was who was preventing him heading towards their goal. Often there was no sight of him - may have been thereabouts, but not in view to me, Really frustrating.

Armstrong and Adams both reasonably well established. McGregor a decent player with Champions League experience. Gilmour at Chelsea

That was utterly pathetic.

We went into the tournament concerned about our centre backs and goalkeeper but couldn’t even carve out any decent chances against Scotland.

I’ve not been a Southgate hater but he got nothing right last night. He made two subs and that was to take off our best player on the night and our best goal scorer.

We played like a team that has just been thrown together at the last minute and with no clear direction. It’s almost like we played not to lose. Against fucking Scotland.

He had the option of 5 subs but chose to keep two holding midfielders despite the fact we had two thirds of the possession.

Abysmal.

Southgate himself said in terms of
qualification we are in a good place , he also said we were good against Croatia.

That's fair enough but he's easily pleased

Lineup against Czech Republic

Pickford

Walker
Stones
White
Chillwell

Rice/Phillips

Foden
Mount
Grealish

Kane
Sancho

2 CDMs aren't working. We need to get Kane back in form and whilst he naturally drops back like he does with Spurs, at least you'll have Sancho staying up. One up front isn't working

Would be happy if Sterling didn't play again for the rest of the tournament
