opening up into a really good game.

Kimmich seems like Germany's weak link, play seems to break down when it gets to him. If its Kroos or Havertz then they seem to be able to make things happen.

Think the commentators said it’s his first time playing right back for a few years, Kimmich that is

Shame. Good finish. Thinks he’s Matt Godden.

why are they not flagging until the ball goes in the net?

Shame that's offside.

I know they tell linesman to wait these days before flagging, but that's twice today the linesmen have taken it to extremes.

Super finish & superb pass to him - unlucky with the offside.

Why the fuck do they not put the flag up, if he hadn't scored would it not be offside, i don't get it

As you say it's the laws now (due to VAR of course) but I hate it.
Could lead to a very serious injury one day too.

Hope no-one scores from offside in injury time. The assistant will be lying in bed at 2am when his arm goes up to give it.

I get it when it's very marginal but both of them today have been clear as day

If they're leaving it that late they might as well save themselves the effort and let VAR sort it out for them.

Because of bloody VAR, they have to let it play out so VAR can decide whether to allow it or not. Almost no point in having assistants anymore.

I always assumed if it was that obvious they were still supposed to flag it as they used to.

If that was an England player making that tackle on Mbappe there, it'd be a foul.

Germany got a lot of old school England about them - lots of the ball, very comfortable in possession but little goal threat.
France are a horrible team, happy to sit in two banks of 4 and boot it to the quick man.

I'm only surprised the lino didn't have his flag up when it hit the back of the net.

Really haven't seen enough from France to make me worry too much though .

If Germany had a proper number 9 they'd be a decent side competing up there

France are in a different class- happy to give a team like Germany all the possession, never really looking in serious danger, and can break to the other end in seconds. I don’t think they’re even at 100% here

It’s a bit bitty at the moment.

However, wouldn’t surprise me if France stepped it up second half and went on to win 2 or 3 nil.

(He hopes as he is on Benzema first goal ).
