And yea .. safe to say I was wrong about Southgate and I was also wrong worrying about our defence , seems its a bit better than I thought

he seems to have England well drilled

The only concern to be has about the defence was if Maguire wasn’t fit and able to return. The whole back line yesterday have all had great seasons. Even before the tournament, we had an impressive sheet record.

The exception being Pickford who has been reliable for England.

We’ve had a ‘kind’ draw, but Italy nor Spain would want to be playing us in the knockout stages.

Quickly back on the Wasps writing on the seating. I’m not that bothered by it, but it looks absolutely wank. So, so cheap.

Great patter mate.

I missed one game last season and you bring me up in every thread. That's twice today you've mentioned me out of nowhere

You're fucking weird and dangerously obsessed

Rent free in your head all because I made you look stupid a few months ago

Club v Country is a silly debate for me.

At Uni, I felt disconnected to Club because we were struggling, not going to games because I lived hundreds of miles away. Likewise, after 2014 and 2016, I lost interest in watching the England games too. Fair play to Southgate, we’re actually a team who’s getting to the latter stages of competitions now and have restored the nation’s hopes of success.

For me, when England are doing well at major tournaments, the vibe is amazing and everyone seems happy and excited about football. A feeling you don’t get when you’re supporting Cov. Coventry City, however, was always my ‘first love’ when it comes sports and England used to be more of an escape from supporting an average team.

In fairness, if you travelled across the world to watch England play home and away, you’d feel closer to the team.

In short, you can absolutely support club and country with the same intensity.

All those people you see throwing limbs at Wembley against Germany, all the people who were watching in those crowds where it was shown on big screen - most of them, I bet, will say club before country. City mean way more, but I still think a few people are lying to themselves as to how they’d feel if we managed to win this thing.

Something I can’t quite put my finger on is what I sometimes see on Twitter. Being an English football fan, but not wanting us to win it. Wanting to see us fail.

Do well in international tiddlywinks, I’ll be happy. Like the time we won the cricket World Cup. I’d sooner watch paint dry, but I was over the moon.

This is what I don’t get- CCFC and England are never going to be competing for the same trophies, why can’t people support both the same

If England win it will probably feel a bit like how it feels for a Man Utd fan from Surrey when Man Utd win something. It feels great, you celebrate like mad & party all night but ultimately you're not as closely tied to it as you are with Cov, and you don't 'feel' it quite as much. Thats how I feel anyway.

If England win it I will cry and I will be just as happy as when City got promoted, or won the FA Cup. It's still love, but just not as deep. Your love for your hometown club is just deeper, because you breathe it every day.

I am one of the very lucky ones, because even though I was a small child, I saw us win in 1966. I think that makes a hell of a difference if you have experienced that.

I remember taking an air horn to Wembley to watch us play Estonia many years ago. I was about 16 and the steward threatened to kick me out if I used it. That's probably the only difference between my love for England and CCFC.

I absolutely love getting behind England, and I support my country as passionately as CCFC, but there are a lot more games that are played and I watch at club level so maybe I'm a bit more invested in that if I really had to be honest.

Still, winning the euros and promotion to the Premier League this year and I'll settle for that.
