We didn't deserve to win because we could not score. Even the goal we scored was a poor free kick. We had our best striker taking corners! We failed to keep possession in the dying minutes. Bale will present a much tougher challenge than any of the Russian strikers.

Why would it be mentioned? I was in with some Napoli fans a few years ago and something similar happened, nearly had to go to the toilet afterwards I think it's quite common throughout other European countries.

Because it wasn't so long ago there were suicide bombers outside games in France. How are people getting things like that into games?

People would have been on edge, the last thing needed is huge bangs. I know it's normal in Italy and South America but it just makes you wonder how easy it would have been for an actual bomb

So Wales didn't deserve to win either then?

That too was a 'poor free kick' and the second goal was very lucky because From Ramsey had all but lost control of the ball, stumbling before the ball found its way to Robson-Kanu.

i cant remember his last good game for club or country,
lallana disappeared after half time, kane had nil service from both of the above

hart is hart im afraid, he's the number 1 , i think weve been spoilt over the yaers with incredible goalies, now this batch are all okay, not great

2nd half while we were 1-0 up Sterling had this great pass to unmarked Alli coming on just outside the box, he didn't see it & he just ran the ball into the defender.
While I'm sure he could rip a weak defence apart he isn't terribly effective against solid defence.

Hart is a very good keeper, but is prone to lapses which can prove costly.

Sterling is frustrating. He clearly has the pace and skill, but far too often tries to run 'through' people and ends up just looking amateurish and when in the box in great positions he almost seems too scared to shoot.

I'm not sure hart can be blamed for the equaliser, I dont think any keeper would have saved that.

No agree.

Think the only blame here if any would have to be labeled against Miner who let the cross come in.

Anyway, England play like that the rest of the tournament and they will surely do pretty well.

Just want them to come home with their heads held high and none of this hanging their heads in shame for once.

Best England performance for a while that I thought and Rose and Walker as the full backs gives us a great options going forward.

I was also happy to see Wilshire get another cameo. I thought he looked very inventive when he came on.

Somebody close to the England squad needs to permanently lose James Milner's accreditation.

Other than that it was a fine performance, although some of Hodgson's decisions left a lot to be desired (Kane taking corners/leaving Sterling on too long/James Milner/not getting Vardy on late against tired, slow defenders).

You can't take a bloody bottle cap into the Ricoh but you can get things like that into a stadium supposedly on high security alert.
Seems to me there was a bigger and better organised police operation when we played Millwall than there is for this tournament.

I think defensively we were a little at fault for their goal. The cross could have been closed down a little quicker, we should have been with the guy who headed the ball...he ran on to it and our defender back peddled whilst another caught up to late. I think hart will be disappointed he was left a little in no mans land. Small errors rather than a howler in my opinion

Just a thought .
My Mrs said ' can't believe england have won their first opening game ever '
19 seconds before the equalizer.

As soon as she said it a bemoaned the footballing gods , and that the game would now finish 1-1. Her Daughter looked at me like I had a square head , when I said it , and shear disbelief when Russia did in fact equalize.

Needless to say I fell out with the Mrs .
Still can't believe she said those words, I apologize to the nation for her ignorance on such godly issues

Northern Ireland truly pathetic today. Offered nothing at all. I'd hoped they would put up a good fight. Cannot understand professional footballers that can't direct a free kick to a target.

Don't understand all this hate on Sterling. Aren't you forgetting he set up our one good chance for a goal? Rooney's shot that was saved by their keeper.
We need someone fast that can put crosses in, who else is there on the left?

I think the problem with Hart, strangely, is that he knows when he's beaten. He's a really good keeper but you can see him giving up when he doesn't think he'll get the ball. If he attempted 19 of 20 times he wouldn't get the ball but that 1 time is the difference between a good and a great keeper

They look vulnerable to the cross to me even though Nuar is excellent.

Same things were said after the 2-1 defeat to Italy last world cup opener. Russia were shite, Wales will be massively up for the match next. If Bale has a stormer we could comfortably lose and be on the edge of going out in the group stage.

The difference between Germany and England: England score then retreat into their shell to protect the slim lead - and end up drawing 1-1. Germany score and then go all out for second goal and end up winning 2-0. England's mentality is fear, Germany's confidence.

Nothing sums up German efficiency more than the Germans second goal. Superb move and finish.
They will definitely be in the final 4.

I'm looking forward to Portugal beating Iceland tomorrow as it's the last game in my 6 team accumulator.

£1 bet wins £21.37. Can currently cash out at £11.89. Tempted to as I'm normally shite at betting especially accumulators

Who gets your vote for the best strip at the Euros? I'm watching Belgium Italy and I really like Belgium's Adidas strip. Red and black goes so well together. One thing I can say is the Nike strips are by far the worst.
