I don't think much of Henderson usually but could see a bit more of what he offered. Thought England were comfortable against ordinary opposition. As said on another thread that clown Vardy should be nowhere near an England shirt.

Welbeck is a god awful alternative but he has the knack of picking up a goal like tonight that Vardy doesn't have. He only does well at Leicester because they play a direct counter attacking style with him as the focal point but there is no way that would work at international level.

Best atmosphere I’ve experienced for an England home game. Hoping the rumours of a Midlands venue for the Switzerland game are true. Stunning goal from Rashford. Has to start a week on Monday. Thought Delph and Loftus-Cheek were superb and the MOTM was between those two.

Can somebody get rid of the God awful band or get them to play different songs?
The current songs are dire and create no excitement at all.

They’ve been band from away games since the “Celtic Park Incident”. Some away members refuse to go to Wembley as they were pissing them off. One bloke that’s been a member for decade said he’d happily return if the band got band and “pay double if they shot them on the pitch at half time”!

Well, that training game went well. Costa Rica were just as bad as the last 9 were. Hope we are ready for the real games. If I were Southgate, I'd use Sterling in the group games, then drop him. We don't need him after knockout stage. He can then gets his tatoos touched up while the lads get down to business. Good job im not Southgate, id upset Mr. Sterling.

Costa Rica are a decent side but apparently they were all suffering from jet-lag after a 24 hour plane journey.
I'm not sure what Southgate can learn from such a game.
Surely he already knows his starting eleven at this late stage.
I think it will be the squad numbers 1-11.
Butland in particular looked like an accident waiting to happen with some of his passes out of goal.

I love your passion and commitment to England CJ. You always see positivity when they play even against Costa Rica, who if they were a league side would be in League One. I want us to go to Russia and do well, but let's be honest can you honestly see England reaching say the semi final ?

Not many League One teams have a player that has won the Champions League in each of the last 3 years. Too many underrated them 4 years ago. They won a group containing Italy, Uruguay and us. Both us and Italy got hammered for not qualifying out of that but in terms of rankings that was the best group in a World Cup ever. I thought they looked far better than Nigeria last night. Some of their passing and off the ball movement was top notch. They just lacked that killer instinct but that should come.

As I’ve said before, in theory we only need to play well/above what’s expected once to get to the final weekend. Belgium is likely to not matter much for either side (we’re better off finishing second than first) and all of our potential second round opponents are a similar or lesser level when compared to the other teams in our group. The quarters are the tough one. If we don’t get through to them it’s been a massive failure.

Finishing second is definitely better I agree. Having looked at the possible matches after that.

Passing through the quarters is going to be extremely hard though. Likely to be Germany or Brazil. If we lose to either of them it can hardly be classed as a failure even at that stage.

I think Brazil will win it, they also have the easiest path to the final I would say.

We are simply not good enough in defence to get thru the quarters. Based on our last rubbish World Cup with too many has-beens still hanging on. Then with this bunch of kids id say a good show in the quarters is something to build on. Don't forget some good kids below this lot and Madders to come. Defensively England are very poor but our attacking style will/should get goals early doors. It's when we meet a REAL team, ie. Germany Brazil. Game over. To think we can win this tournament you must have your head up your arse.
