They are renovating the lift. Should be open again next year, after being closed for a few years

Or we don't feel the need to because for once we actually agree.

12 months is too short a sentence. I also think for crimes like this their asylum application should be instantly denied and they should be deported as soon as they've finished their sentence.

Of course, Dom's thing about the death penalty is just nonsense and likely him trying to get bites again.

So you don’t think sex offenders that attack kids should get the death penalty? Any normal sane person thinks that anyone that attacks a child should get the worst punishment possible. That last paragraph is weird as fuck from you, creep. The death penalty should be brought back for sex offenders as they are a waste of oxygen

Agreed. I saw the sentence and thought it lenient.

I was expecting a long term. Yeah and of course, once he's out he should be deported

Why should we pay for sex offenders to be in prison, death would be the easiest and best option especially if it involved a child. It’s worrying how defensive you get over this topic and weird, any normal person should agree. You need a good look in the mirror

I often look at the man in the mirror dom I ask him if he wants to make the world a better place and he really does

Murdering people, even if done by the state on all metrics does not make the world a better place

You need to have a good look at yourself and recognise where an eye for an eye model gets you

Any crime committed against children what’s so amazing about sexual crime and while we’re at what about crimes against women too

Which crime do you think shouldn’t lead to the death penalty

It’s stuff like this and the fact that every migrant on the already weak ‘one in one out’ France scheme seems to be delaying/blocking their exit (I’m guessing funded by legal aid we pay for) which will regrettably probably see Reform get in. I don’t know if it’s the legal system inc ECHR, judges or what but the public won’t continue to accept being asked to pay more and more whilst getting less from public services with shit like this happening.

No, I don't think sex offenders who attack kids should get the death penalty. I don't think anyone should. It's a barbaric practice that is no more a deterrent than other punishments like prison.

If you have a death penalty then you're leaving it open to abuse of people wanting it applied for other crimes, and before you know it you've got people demanding it for small stuff. We used to hang people for stealing food for example. We burnt people for being the wrong branch of Christian.

The only time that you could make an argument for the death penalty was when everyone was hyper religious and thought only God can judge them, and for him to do that they have to be dead. We are not that anymore.

Your desire for a death penalty is far closer to law in some Islamic countries, and I didn't have you down as someone who'd support implementing elements of Sharia law.

I know Dom"s trolling some of you, but I'm 100% with him on hanging offenders who rape kids, white ones too not just Muslims. Different topic though and I think we've all covered our positions on other threads.

The thing with the one in one out is that is was always going to face the same issues as stuff like Rwanda - it was always going to get challenged in the courts. And I think legal process is necessary, if it can be frustrating at times.

Apart from it happening all the time throughout our legal system, hence why it isn't a punishment.

And let's not pretend that mistakes don't happen in the legal process. I assume if someone accused you of a serious sex offence and you erroneously got convicted, you'd be fine with being executed because the law says you're guilty.

My opposition to the death penalty doesn't come from objecting to applying it to certain crimes, but because it's inevitable that the state will end up executing innocent people. It may just be a very small % of cases that result in wrongful conviction, but you cannot allow for it happening.

You read into it what you want
There’s a massive gap between a 12 months and the death penalty
The sentence doesn’t seem to fit the crime but I prefer to live in a country where we have law and order rather than not

With this new bar set for punishment, I just wonder what sentence it would be for someone who had been done for assault and contempt of court and drug possession and mortgage fraud, and for using a false passport and for leading a brawl involving hundreds of football fans and for stalking?

Someone who has guilty of all of the above

What sentence for them would be appropriate?

No issue with the death penalty when it's 100% clear cut that they are guilty.

If it's a foreign national, deport and banned from the country for life. Obviously take their DNA / Fingerprints so if they try to enter again under a different identity then they are just rejected within minutes.

Death penalty is a bit far in this case, i dont think they should ever be released though as they are always a danger to kids.

I do think the death penalty should be around for the most vile cases of things.

Exactly this.

It's possible to think that some people deserve death for their crimes and be against the death penalty. They are not mutually exclusive.

At least something, it was radio silence.

In another post when there was a horrific crime against an asian girl recently there were pages and pages of stuff.

This forum just seems very Left Wing.

This scumbag will, I assume, enter the process for removal once his sentence is completed. If we did had the death penalty we would be looking at a decades long appeal process during which time we would be paying to keep him in prison. It would cost far far more.

The other thing that gets suggested a lot is instant deportation. The fact that he was pleading with the judge for that to be applied should tell you everything about how effective that option is. If we're sending people back prior to them serving their sentences there is a good chance they don't serve that sentence when they arrive 'home'.
