I think you’ll find “crush the gangs” is official government policy to be pedantic.

Judges can only give sentences as per what the legal guidelines are, if the give a sentence shorter than the guidelines the state will appeal and the if it is over the guidelines then the guilty person can appeal.

It's associating our club with someone that a lot of us think is a grade A weapon.
I don't want to see that type of divisive figure associated with our club, whether from the left or the right
Let's keep Saturdays about supporting the club.

btw why do people get defensive when it's pointed out that voting for racist people or making stickers loving racist people means you're probably racist?

Hopefully a retrial as the judge is a diversity and community relations judge who would of directed the jury to give a not guilty verdict. Absolute joke. Two tier at it's finest

You can only try people again after a not guilty verdict for certain offences and only then when there is new compelling evidence.

What did the judge do? Would you care to tell us about how he influenced the jury? Or was it more likely as happens a lot the CPS did a terrible job and the jury found not guilty?

I tell you what I’m against, I get the boats are obviously a major issue. But not once have they offered a solution. Other than “send them back” - send them back where? We don’t know where they’re from.

but park that, does anyone ever look at their voting patterns with anything else? The major erosion of our workers rights and daily life is what alarms me… a vote for reform - Lowe, Tice and Farage is a turkeys voting for Xmas vote.

Same as the councillors making Palestine their single issue…. Yeah I hate seeing kids blown up but frankly, my number one priority is how mine and my family are going to be helped by government is my major concern.

I’m also alarmed at the US Christian lobby groups being major funders for Farage. If you’ve got a daughter this should alarm everyone

The whole discourse around politics in the UK is just another export from the USA. A lot of the stuff on here is just repeating stuff that obvious bot accounts are churning out to get people whipped up and it's working a treat.

What’s annoying is the boats weren’t an issue until Fucking Brexit. And now the same geniuses who brought us Brexit are claiming they can solve it. Like looo at this graph. Have some fucking humility and maybe explain this massive fuck up before demanding the majority bend to your ideas this time.

because they are the ones families tend to send first (to establish themselves, earn money, or seek asylum before trying to bring relatives later).

A lot of asylum seekers are fleeing war and/or poverty. No one complained when it was fit women coming over

I agree that politics should be completely kept out of football.

However the thread seems to be more annoyed about the message than the fact there is a message

No I just play one on the Internet. But I can read sentencing remarks which seems to put me ahead of most.

You’re onto it though. Why isn’t it a crime to mutter under your breath? Death threats are illegal no? Because for communication to be considered malicious the likelihood of the victim hearing it and believing it matter. For incitement to violence the likelihood that violence matters. Which is why you can’t just go “he shouted and he shouted so they should be treated the same”

A slit throat gesture is digesting. I’d have sent him down and I think a jury made the wrong decision but one that’s consistent with these kinds of jury trials. However if we’re honest there’s no reasonable expectation from either side of violence and you know it. It’s hyperbole among peers.

Forming a mob and attacking police and trying to burn down a hotel with people inside means shouting has far more impact.

I’m not even arguing one should be guilty and one innocent I’m saying the comparisons are apples and oranges. Like me finding a shoplifter in 2012 who didn’t get sent down and one during the 2011 riots who did.

Aah ok , Is that what it actually says….’Stop the boats’ ?!?
With all the bed wetting I thought it actually must have said something a lot worse. Its what the vast majority of the country want to see I believe, a lowering of unchecked migrant numbers.
Shouldn't have been linked with CCFC though I agree.

Having seen people close up being brought from the sea to Lampedusa by rescuers, I doubt anyone on here would make those kinds of journeys unless you felt it was really necessary.

If circumstances in the UK were so bad that it became unliveable (war etc) would you just get up and leave, leaving your wife and kids behind?

You wouldn’t. You’d protect them at all costs. If I had to decide with being alive and safe in a tent in France or risking mine and my children’s life to cross ‘perilous’ seas as you put it, I choose France every time.

It’s very much an issue. But ultimately long term, Reform haven’t got a plan for this - and whilst they make that worse by more than likely alienating us to the rest of the world they’ll be making us red state puppet of Trump whilst making life somehow shitter for the rest of us

We probably agree on a lot more. I just think civil society is fragile and kicking at the judiciary and police for fun isn’t a great idea. Or the belief that anyone who doesn’t agree with you or whose decisions you don’t immediately understand is some kind of evil force doing it to hurt you.

No one wants someone who is out protesting/posting peacefully to be arrested. It’s a basic democratic right. But even fewer people want pissed up mobs fighting the police on the streets and trying to burn down holiday inns.

The attitude from the right seems to be that because they lost the election all bets are off and violent overthrow of the democratically elected government is on the menu. Sorry, no.

You realise they can’t apply to more than one country so if they apply in France that’s that? Most of them are coming because they have family or they speak English so can find work easier. Families in war zones send young men because they’re most likely to survive the journey and be able to either send for the family or send money back from work.

I'm not a leftie and not angry but I just don't see the point of putting a city badge on it.

By all means, make stickers with Mps and stop the boats but what's the point in a city badge (or any other football club?)

Is it the sticker equivalent of "Look after him, from a Coventry Fan xx" ?

It’s just my view that there has been a seismic shift in the past year or so and that people who are genuine ordinary people are being branded racist and far right for being genuinely concerned with what’s happening at the moment. The current government are an absolute shambles and Starmer, whether he is or not, in a lot of people’s eyes is not on their side.
