Think most mid level Champ clubs would give him a go at <£4m

Weird, but would explain his omition, but then again why have him on the bench???

And let's be brutally honest. He's been fucking shit for ages. I wouldn't want him anywhere near our first team if I were Lampard.

And Wright wasn't shite?

People tend to really underestimate the size of the market for serviceable Championship players who we don’t want. Someone paid us a fee for Kasey Palmer! Simon Moore is in the Championship playoff final next weekend!

He’s only 24 and has shown signs of being a goal scorer at this level and has all the right attributes that someone will think they can get the best out of him.

Lampard got it right and it’s extremely simple. Wright is our best forward. BTA is our next best. So Simms didn’t play.

As I said, Simms has been shite for ages, where as Wright has struggled since coming back from injury.

I wouldn't compare the two, as Wright offers far more than Simms does. But unfortunately we didn't see any of that against Sunderland.

If we could get anywhere near our money back, I'd off load both and bring in 2 more strikers.

Frustrates the hell out of me. He is just so nearly in everything he does.

Nearly in the location of the ball but isn’t quite. Nearly wins headers but doesn’t, nearly intercepts passes but doesn’t, nearly drops the player marking him but doesn’t, nearly scores a goal but doesn’t. I could go on but you get the point.

Get Emil Riis who's been released by Preston and who's 6ft 3in and turns 27 this year to replace Simms who's surely out the door now after not featuring in the playoffs.

As for Wright whether we keep him or replace him as well is the question. I think Wright prefers playing off the left wing rather than as a central striker, but EMC has lately proven he's quite effective on the left wing as well. The thing is we need 2 good players for every position and rather than overhauling the entire front line, we need to play everyone where they're best suited. Obviously if someone offers crazy money for Wright (like 15-20M), we could use that to strengthen in most areas.

Yes, I do. Extra time bring Simms and Assante on. I believe they won 9 out of 10 games , when they played together.

If there was an appearance payout it wouldn't be anything like 2 million, 100,000 I could believe but 2 million, laughable. Anyway it's clear he made way for Haji, when BTA went on he took EMC's position.

Had we gone up that means a profit of 148 million rather than 150 million. If Lampard felt he could be the difference to us going up I'm sure he would have played.
More likely is that he was injured given he has been carrying an issue for a while now and we just put him on the bench to try and kid Sunderland that he was an option off the bench. Lampard doesn't seem the vindictive type to make an example of someone

We were just slinging crosses into the box in the first game and we kept 6ft 3 simms on the bench, even if he doesn’t get on the end of any it’s an extra body to think about, pretty sure Mboro centre halves weren’t too worried about assante in the air, just doesn’t seem right, he’s either had a moan about not playing or Lampard just didn’t fancy him ?

Ellis Simms couldn't tear his way out of a wet paper bag, let alone tear up a league. He failed to look good in Scotland and even I (an overweight, 40 something, Sunday league GK) could look good up front in Scotland. He's scored 40 goals total in 5 years, what's the odds on him doing 20 in 1? Very high odds that's for sure, regardless of where he is and in which league.
Time to give up on him. His size probably made him look better as a kid before all the others caught him up, but as a man, he still looks like a boy half the time. Fair play to him for managing to make a half decent career for himself, but he's as much as a professional striker as I am.

*Edit: as a side note it was always going to be hard coming in a filling the boots of Gyokeres. We, as fans, had high expectations after Vik. I thinknthe thing that's annoying isn't the fact that he's not always on his game, it's his lack of effort when he's not in the game that's the issue. Nobody on here, or in the stands expects any player to be 100% perfect 100% of the time. Every player is going to have a bad game from time to time. Every player is going to make mistakes during a game. That's the league were in and the level of it. But when he half heartedly bimbles about and apologies to opposition players for fouling them, you need a career change.

Yeah. We did expect something good after Vik and our expectations high but actually, in a way, if he busted

Everton aren’t guaranteed to make £8 million from Ellis Simms’ departure. That’s according to Coventry Live, who have reported that the transfer fee will depend on a number of add-ons. The Toffees were said to value the striker between £6-10 million as a number of Championship clubs fought over his signature.

Coventry City have now confirmed the arrival of Simms on a four-year deal, with previous reports claiming they were forking out £8m to bring him to the Midlands.

However, the report has claimed that the Sky Blues will pay an initial £3.5m rising to £5m depending on appearances and goals, before reaching £8m if they gain promotion to the Premier League.

Who is Evertons valuer? Does he watch games with his eyes closed? Who in their right mind would value Simms at between £6-10m?!?! Our base rate without any add ons at £3m, we'll be lucky to claw back 1/3 of that if we were to sell him this summer.
We've got to both move on, for his sake as much as ours. Take a loss if necessary, but try amd get a little bit to put back in to the kitty for another striker.
