Ours

Ours is still based on minutes on the pitch and points obtained, just less minutes than originally intended.

Yeah, I jokingly meant they completed the full number of games and we hadn't (yet).

Take a hard headed look at the league table.
If each club looks at what is in their own club's best interest only FOUR have more to gain than they have to lose by playing on
Peterborough
Sunderland
Doncaster
Tranmere

These clubs are deluded if they think they gain anything
Oxford
Fleetwood
Portsmouth

These teams might be desperate enough to risk everything
Ipswich
Gillingham

If they are rational the vote wont be close - it will be 19/4 or worst case 14/9

The feeling among the L1 clubs is that the chance of playing on is 5%

I think deluded is the wrong word (although I do think they will vote PPG). 1 win away from autos is not deluded, but they are also 1 loss away from 7th/8th!

They are not one win away though, are they? They'll need one more win than all their rivals over 9 matches. That means they'll maybe have to win SIX or SEVEN. If they settle for play offs they have to win TWO and draw/lose ONE to be promoted.

Exactly, 5 clubs are potentially 1 win away from a single auto slot, that changes the odds slightly.

I hope Wycombe get promoted. We could do with the points. Also takes up one of the relegation spots.

On the other hand...
The 3 "deluded" are pitching to avoid the play offs by coming 2nd = 9
Lincoln have made aggressive noises = 10
Southend want null and void - therefore PPG is their least favourite of the two choices =11
12/11 = too close to call

The CET are reporting that Wycombe want to finish the season as they believe they can gain automatic promotion.

Just read that article.
More of a click bait article tbf. It completely forgets to mention how he highlighted on sky sports that the club are worried about the financial cost of restarting the season

"I'm saying that we still had plenty to play for on the pitch.

"From a competitive point of view, give me the 10 games we have remaining, because I believe we'll finish at least in the play-offs, if not an automatic."

Doubt that he's that deluded - he's playing to the Wycombe crowd. If they lose in the playoffs then he can cry foul.

Of course loads of managers are coming out saying they want to play on... talk about easy "good" PR.

its not them voting though is it...

i cant see the vote being close, no chance this season gets finished. Dont think we'll find out who voted what unfortunately, would be interesting to see. 4/5 votes top for playing on.

i'm glad CCFC have stayed quiet, but if you asked Robins, all things aside, i bet he would say he wants to finish as well.

Our club has projected quiet professionalism so far through these discussions. I think it’ll be a close vote, especially when clubs like Bristol Rovers making noises about playing on as preparation for 20-21 season.
Hopefully the financial directors of all the clubs will be the designated person to vote for each club, as it’s pretty obvious which way they’ll choose

If that is correct, i have to wonder if all the noise from certain clubs is by way of appeasing the fans of said clubs, so they can say at least we tried to play on.

Barton seems to be suggesting they are OK with playoffs, I can't think why Southend would want to play on, they are 17 points from safety with 9 to play, and have won 4 all season. Obviously null & void would be their first preference but that is not on the table. I believe they have long ago accepted that they will be relegated, and almost certainly will be in deep financial trouble.

The thing about saying you want to play on means a manager could say "we was robbed' if only we could have finished the season' gives them bargaining power and wins the fans support. I think it is fair to say, some directors will be saying one thing and doing another. It ain't cheap playing in the Championship as Burton Albion found out. Some directors are not going to want the financial outlay, but will say another thing, because they have to. Those in the play off positions are not going to want to risk missing out on a chance to go up. Whilst I appreciate that we were in great form and if the season had carried on, I am pretty sure we would have gone up automatically. But after such a long break, it is a lottery and we could blow it, but that is the same for everyone. That's why I think that the top six will vote for PPG and I think that will be the same for the Championship. The only teams that will complain are those who are down and those on the fringes of the play offs. The rest of what they say is rhetoric imo.

Exactly. Managers saying they want to play on, and owners doing a turkey-voting-for-Christmas impression are two very different things.

Most people would ideally want to play on, but there’s barely any league One clubs that will be able to just pull £500K out their back pockets to finish the season, I don’t think this vote will be as close as people think

We are acutely aware that everyone is currently talking about the EFL and whether the remainder of the League One season will be cancelled.

Frustratingly, there is still no clear answer – although we anticipate a vote will be taken next week.

In advance of that, we would like to make the club’s position clear. In an ideal world, we would love to play out the season in front of all our fans. Sadly, that’s not the new reality; somehow we have to make sense of the situation we are all in.

Of course, our priority has to be to protect the health of everyone involved with the club – players, fans and staff alike. Beyond that, we must do all we can to preserve the future of the League and to ensure all its member clubs survive. The majority of us are facing financial problems, some quite severely. Every day this issue remains unresolved is simply adding to that burden.

Given this fact of life, we will not vote for any outcome that potentially endangers the health of our players and staff or puts clubs under further financial strain. More delays, hanging on to see if the season can somehow be played out, all adds intolerable pressure to clubs in our division. We appreciate that not every club within the division will be feeling positive about the possibility of cancelling the season and we have sympathy for clubs in that position. However, we don’t believe clubs should be forced into a situation that increases their financial risk.

We can’t – and we won’t - take a short-term view. There are so many uncertainties ahead – not least the unpalatable prospect of starting a new season in empty stadiums. Our focus has to be on preparing for life without much of our matchday income; bringing this season to a swift end, instead of dragging it out, is an essential way of helping us all do that.

None of us want to be in this predicament but it’s our firm belief that we must stand together to safeguard our common interests. Only then can we preserve everything we value about the football league structure and the pyramid system.
