Post number 137 on Sunderland thread..

I think Dave Boddy should turn up 17 minutes late for the vote for old times sake...

I guess most of Sunderland is furloughed. There is a lot of activity on the forum.

what's this - another club selling its stadium to interested parties to clear debt / SCMP/ FFP etc ?

I can't see any way Southend and Bolton wouldn't vote for PPG.
I also wouldn't include Bristol in the against votes.

Southend could abstain?

At an educated guess:

Votes against: Peterborough, Sunderland, Donny, Tranmere, Ipswich, Gillingham, Bristol

Votes for: Cov, Rotherham, Wycombe, Burton, Wimbledon, Rochdale, MKD, Accrington, Shrews, Lincoln

Unknown votes: Oxford, Pompey, Fleetwood, Blackpool, Southend, Bolton

If the above was accurate, only 2 out of the 6 unknown votes would needed for us to get promoted. That's assuming the votes for and against were the same as my prediction.

As I said, just an educated guess, but it looks promising at this stage.

Southend & Bolton will surely vote to end season, now null & void is off the table.

I'm not sure why they'd do that.
They can't stay up and will be losing money every time they play

I doubt it, that would risk playing on and I doubt they would want that. The game is up for them.

So I gather from this there will be an all team vote to accept / reject the proposed rule changes. That requires a 50%+1 majority, plus a majority in the Championship. Any chances that the Championship reject this to serve their own self interest in potentially not relegating?

Once that has been done, there will then need to be formal votes in League 1 (and league 2 if that one was only indicative, now that the Stevenage situation would have been cleared up).

Then we can celebrate....

Great stuff. And with the signs being relegation in all divisions is non negotiable, there is a very real possibility that we can add the Villa to the list of cracking local derbies next season. Just hope we get to go and see a few of them!

I reckon I’d walk back for that if I had to

What the EFL haven't said, AFAIK is what penalty will be applied if a team can't complete some or all of their fixtures, assuming a vote for the season to continue. There could well be circumstances where teams will go into administration or even be unable to complete their fixtures in the allocated timeframe due to positive tests. Didn't the FA say 31 July is the absolute deadline for completion?

Said it before and will say it again, while there are no good solutions to all of this. Unweighted ppg which rewards Wycombe for not playing us at St Andrews as we had an FA Cup replay is a terrible decision.

I can see why Sunderland, Peterborough and Oxford are up in arms.

So who would you like to win the Playoffs? Oxford, Fleetwood, Portsmouth or Wycombe
I can't decide if I want Oxford or Portsmouth.

I had always suspected that null and void would rear its ugly head so today's news reads well for us. The make up of the league means that PPG looks nailed on now. Even if it isn't I am very confident that we would still win promotion and the league anyhow, so it feels like we are in a win win situation now.

Well I had my doubts that the FL would step up to the mark and do the right thing but that statement makes it pretty clear. We'll be playing in the Championship next season. Been said before, but what this club has achieved this season given all the circumstances is incredible. Going to knock the top off a cold one now, sit back and enjoy.

So many teams have games cancelled due to cups, internationals etc. Clutching at straws at best with that argument.

Weighted PPG is rightly off the table as a terrible alternative to PPG - you only have to look at West Ham & Bournemouth to see why that is the case.

She’s starting to annoy me. Not the unjust part of it, it probably is. But the way she’s continuously doing it, as if members of the public have any say and want to hear her moaning about it.
