Doug King/Dean Austin spat (2 Viewers)

My concern is these players coming down having been rogered all season and with zero confidence.

The odd thing is the players have been signed to be turned at a profit, but basically none are being trusted to start.
Sheffield United came down with one of the worst teams i've seen in my life and were still part of a runaway top 3.

Either we’ve got a Sporting Director who has spunked close to £150m on shite or a manager who can’t pick a team and neither are great let’s be honest.

That take is a little binary. The truth may be somewhere between the two, or both may be wrong and our recruitment has been fine and Lampard is still the best manager we’ve had in a very long time.

Time will tell, but 4 matches is a little soon to be making such empathic statements.

These 4 results don’t worry me as much as our lack of quality in finishing. We’re making chances but shot placement is largely in zones where you’d expect the keeper to have a good chance at saving. Hopefully the training ground will address this.

In any case, let’s worry about relegation and what comes next when it looks inevitable. 4 games in, 2 of which against title contenders tells us not a lot.

Rob Edwards’ Sky analysis is encouraging because we are competing and if we score first v Hull, Man City and even Brighton, we could be sitting in midtable and the narrative is that Lampard is a genius.

The margins are fine and we’re coming off badly but it only takes a small swing and the results could change dramatically.

As for King/Austin spat, not really sure what’s happened but after a 5-0 loss tempers should flare up.

You have missed out the possibility it's both.

I dont think it's fair to suggest Doug does all for a return of a investment based solely on transfer fee. He bought Grimes 29 years for 4 mill, Pinnock, Bentley and Awoniyi. Extended Wilson, Bidwell and Tatsu all older than Flemming. The other thing is we dont know if we tried to sign Flemming.

Too much based on assumption.
As you say we don't know if we even tried to sign Flemming but one thing I feel certain King would say about signing older players without resale value is he's not willing to push the boat out on wages for them either.

That's why I feel we were never going to get that game changing experienced signing because they were never going to fit into our wage structure, and hence why we've ended up with other teams back-up players as our experience rather than true difference makers.

Let's be honest "IF" we take our chances v Hull v Man City v Brighton we are comfortably outside of the bottom 3.

I mean whether a player is better than another player is pretty binary. Either Yirenkyi, Cherif, Tchaouna are worth spending £60m on and will improve our chances in games and they’re not being picked wrongly or they’re not and they were purchased wrongly. I’d argue we don’t have the luxury of spending those sums on players who can’t materially impact the team quickly. Most of the players keeping them out cost £4-6m, even as a kid at £20m you should be easily ahead of them and if you aren’t should we have bought four or five of these instead of one or two

Rudoni getting in ahead of Tchaouna to play a position he’s not suited for is questionable all round imo. I’m hoping that Gboho not being in the squad is down to visa issues and nothing else, he does look like an EMC upgrade on the face of it.

Yirenkyi not starting is bigger still, it looks clear as day to most of us that Grimes is not the answer at all at CM, and Yirenkyi came in very highly rated.

Wr are only 4 points off where we thought we would be after 4 games we would have expected to beat hull draw Brighton and lose to city and arsenal if we can win our next two league games we are 6 from 6 and back on track. Still think we need yerinki over grimes in the middle he is too slow for this division now unfortunately but great servant

Managers have always had favourites, players they rate more highly than the fans for things they bring off the field as well as on it.

Yirenkyi versus Grimes is not difficult to understand. Frank knows that Grimes is more experienced and gives the ball away less, he’s his voice on the pitch. Yirenki is more mobile but he can be guilty of giving the ball away in bad areas. For the time being Frank is giving Grimes the chance to show he can make the step up but that will only last so long …

Had we taken our chances we would all be saying that Frank had done the right thing blooding the new players slowly … as Hull have done.

Yirenkyi is not going to improve those skills sat on the bench.

Is it possible they were talking about the state of the pitch.

Worst I’ve seen it as this time of the season since the egg chasers ruined it.

Cutting up all over the place

Also, whoever decided Sheffield United’s fat little mascot would be a useful premier league signing should have a P45 already.
Utterly pathetic.

Assuming you are against stable progress? Surely the next best thing to staying up is to come straight back up? It’s not likely to be a working blueprint but will make our chances better.
I'm not agaisnt stable progress - i'm saying its a hell of a gamble betting it all on being a yo yo team

I noticed it didn't look great before kick off. Not sure why, it's barely been used!

At the moment you can't really criticize Austin for the player he has recruited as they are promising for the future however I do feel FL has been thrown under the bus somewhat as he has been given these youngsters with no experience and he is like, what the fuck am I meant to do with them as they are not ready for PL football. The only exception would be Tchaouna. Is it Austin or King to blame. I really don't think you can aim it at FL other than one or two of his selections have been a bit strange such as playing Rudi on the right wing.

I think a draw with Brighton probably more in hope than expectation. Only 3 points behind really but Hull was a bad one. It's all on how the players respond now.

It’s too early to judge Austin/the new signings and the few posters who’ve called for Lampard to go so far are just fickle.

Well, all eyes on the balcony tonight.

Hopefully they'll have a scrap this time. The half time entertainment just isn't what it once was.

They’ll be more blood and thunder on the balcony than in Tesco Car Park if we get thumped tonight and all of desperate Dean’s signings flop again.

The ridiculously hot summer and no rain for about three months can't have helped really.

My lawn well and truly fucked, only just ready for mowing after about 3 and a half months.

Feel like wasted my 50 quid on the green bin!

I dont buy into this "no experience" argument. How are they sposed to get experience without playing. Professional footballers are in the top 1% of all footballers regardless of experience. I see the issue as mentality rather than ability. We have looked like a rabbit in the headlights at times, i think 1 win by fluke and we will start to see what we can really do, the ability is there

Lampard is the one not playing the new signings so I don’t see how that’s Austin’s fault unless Lampard has told King they’re all shit in which case we’re completely fucked.

That would mean meek relegation, nobody to sell on for profit and no quality added for a promotion push next season.

It’s too early to make that judgement now but if Lampard thinks the new signings are pony he can make the point by playing them and letting it be seen on the pitch. I doubt it can be worse than the shite served up by the championship lot on Saturday.
This goes back to where we were with Robins two years ago with the nonsensical idea that players are imposed upon the manager.

Whatever happened has happened but it is not good that 2 senior members of the club are having a public spat 4 games into a season
