I saw Truss has been bigging herself up today also. She recon’s she’s got together with some “economists” and has formulated a plan to turn the countries economy around. Presumably the same economists who came up with the plan for her mini budget. Couldn’t make it up.

The vultures are circling but I don’t think the party has the will to go nuclear with Sunak this close to the GE. If they did I think it would be happening already. One Jenkyns does not a rebellion make.

Some good news at last. Inflation has fell to 4.6%. Fair play to Sunak, he’s halved inflation by the end of the year so has hit one of his targets. Bad news for Braverman and the rest of her cronies. Can’t see letters of no confidence going in off the back of that news. It’s the nearest thing to accomplishing something that the Tories set out to do in 13 years. Although I suspect that it’s got more to do with outside influences such as international oil prices falling.

Its Piers fucking Morgan! What was he expecting? Corbyns issue, aside from any policy disagreements anyone might have, has always been that as soon as he’s outside the comfort of very left wing people he becomes hostile and evasive and visibly angry.

In a job that’s all about influencing people, that’s kind of a deal breaker.

It was always going to halve, going back to the theory I read about an early 2025 GE, he’s basically picked a bunch of KPIs that will either regress to the mean with no effort (inflation) or are cyclical and can be timed to show a reduction from a peak (NHS and boats). All of his pledges are basically statistical tricks.

Also: what does his party affiliation have to do with anything? Elected representatives should be capable of discussing their views clearly. That’s a basic requirement of representative democracy.

Agree that inflation wasn’t in his gift…and a gamble…however, certain policies could’ve/would’ve probably increased inflation.

Either way good news. Long term bond yields had already been falling quite dramatically (which is thanks a part to stability..certainly compared to truss but also due to economy slowing/maybe on way into slight recession leading to likely inflation drop). Combo of both should lead to lower interest rates from lenders in due course though

Oh definitely good news. US economy seems to be doing well as well. I saw odds of a rate rise there dropped to zero.

Just need some solid growth now.

Like implementing taking back control of our borders adding 3% to the cost of food. Wouldn’t at all be surprised if there’s a recession next year although I can’t see the interest rates falling as dramatically as they rose and don’t expect to see them get back down to where they were, which might not be a bad thing long term.

I don’t know. I think most Tory MP’s will be looking at the headlines this morning and seeing what is essentially a positive headline that they can claim a victory over vs headlines that look like the ramblings of a deranged person who at the end of that day isn’t that popular amongst the electorate and think we’ll stick with the positive. At the moment I can’t see there being the 50+ letters needed going in and even if they do I can’t see him losing a vote of no confidence, especially when the alternative seems to be Braverman who has only ever exceeded in marginalising the party further and making them even more unelectable. He’s going to have to fuck majorly now. I can also see him biting the bullet calling a GE in the new year, better to be voted out by the public than your own party, the Tories are a party of one-upmanship and he knows he can’t be in the job longer than Boris but he can say at least say he wasn’t removed by his own party because he was unfit to govern.
