Labour wins with the under 50s do they not, Tories win over 50s. Of course there will be some young Tories and some older Labour voters but generally that's pretty consistent.

Tories win at 39 and over and the demographic hasn’t changed which suggests when you reach that age your allegiance switches

A study found age was the best predictor of whether someone would pass around dodgy news stories.

Is it? Proportionally based on total users you could argue that is not true.

Doesn't matter to me ..

Some people seem completely unable to accept the problems that are causing Labour to keep losing their core voters

And that's a trend that goes from the normal people like me and you right the way up to the people at the very top.

Not arsed, but don't expect Change anytime soon

My point is if you held the election with just those 18-50, Labour wins. 50+ and the Tories win and that age group turns out more to vote so they will tend to win unless there is a surge in youth turnout. We'll see where I am in 9 years I suppose.

From where I'm standing Evo it doesn't matter what they do, there's always some reason people find not to vote for them. Whereas no matter what the Conservatives do they'll get elected. Labour seem disliked whether they've got a genuine left winger as leader, an Oxbridge graduate, or a former lawyer with a knighthood. Or whether they push for left wing economic policies or more centrist ones, more left wing social platforms or more centrist ones, none of it seems to matter.

So what are they meant to do? Genuine question.

Can't just be me and my circle, but when I speak to people at work, people on my street etc ..

People just do not like Labour anymore , always saying things like .

I always voted Labour, not anymore ...etc etc .

Mind you , certain parts of Coventry are now genuine SHIT HOLES and that's on Labour...so I can see partly why they feel the way they do

Many of todays 20 year olds will slowly shift to the right

This may not be true this time... I think it may move to be later in life. Young people aren't getting married and having kids in their early 20s any more. Many are still living with their parents and playing computer games long after you and I were independent with responsibilities. I think that might change the dynamic.

Anyway I hope Mr Starmer loses Hartlepool and he goes

I’m then campaigning the senile fools on Facebook to vote for PVA and have The Tonester as his deputy and Dreamer as communications strategist

That will definitely achieve exactly where I want the Labour Party to be

We're going over old ground here but it STILL hasn't been answered.

Not voting wanting to vote for Labour is fine.

But STILL nobody can answer what's then so appealing about voting Tory.

But that’s a completely different argument to the national picture. Labour have served the area at both national MP and local council area for many years, so if there is dis-satisfaction you can see why it would manifest itself that way.

The biggest con the Tories managed in the Red-Wall seats was convincing normal people that the failure to invest in their areas and regions was the fault of the oppostion MP’s that represented them and not the incumbent government that actually made all the decisions.

These are polls of the general public from the 2019 election. As I keep saying to you, on policy preferences the public is not centre right.

Then you look at polls on perceptions of the parties

We have been, but I was addressing the idea that the British public are inherently centre right. Perception is trumping the policy substance you claim to care about

Love it when Islington is used as an insult, when only one of the two party leaders lives there, and it isn’t Starmer.

I think the woke stuff isn’t liked, but I don’t think the British public is the 14 year old edge lords you portray them as either.

Polling suggests the public support self id and medically transitioned TW in women’s spaces for example, but not untransitioned:

View attachment 19879

On this issue alone Con voters are out of step on 7 compared to 6 for Labour voters.

On BLM and taking the knee the public is split but generally supports the aims of BLM:

View attachment 19881
View attachment 19880

That first column after the totals is Con voters, again out of step with public opinion on the overall issue.

There’s little to no polling on CRT because outside of edgelord and woke Twitter it’s a completely meaningless phrase with no cut through to the general public.

And you say middle class, but again the proportion of votes from the middle classes are higher for the Tories than Labour:

View attachment 19882

It really doesn’t get more complex than this:

View attachment 19884

And this:

Thing I find hard to tally in that is that Con voters are so out of step with public opinion overall, but as Tories have a good majority you're left wondering how on earth can that many people disagree with them yet they win.

Only things I can come up with is lower turnout of people with those beliefs and those opinions being split between a number of parties (Lab/LD/Green/SNP to a degree etc) whereas those who don't tend to just get behind Tories as other right wing parties like UKIP/BNP etc don't tend to get quite the same, certainly in GE.

As are many parties. The proper hardcore element of the woke brigade surely must follow the Greens more than anyone, then arguably Lib Dem. Greens have some mad social justice stuff that really undermines their main issues.
