We have that - it’s called inheritance tax where we take money earned by people during life to bring into state coffers to pay for things like education for those who are yet to earn.

Taking wealth from those alive to redistribute arbitrarily to younger people creates a society of entitlement despite effort and stifles drive and ambition.

I don’t need to explain how weird thinking mad that is.
We have a society that already stifles drive and ambition because hard work doesn’t pay. We offer crap working conditions, crap pay, crap pensions, crap parental leave etc etc and wonder why people don’t want to stay and we have to hire people on the cheap from abroad who will put up with it.

For once I agree with you.

What’s the solution?

Yep. Essentially you’ll own nothing unless
it’s leveraged in which case ownership is an illusion.

Start with the notion that debt=slavery. Don’t be afraid to confront uncomfortable facts and eventually you’ll see that you’re being farmed.

Yep exactly the conclusion I got to,now we don't need to make anything for anybody we are the product wonder what they'll do with the surplus, looks like the Palestinians are the example, Trump's husbandry is appalling, there we Go.

Society needs people to be able to have children and build families and the cost of living means this is very hard and we need to do more - just that really

Also that unearned income is different to earned income and should be taxed as such
And so should the tech billionaires, they are we using the internet Which our guy developed and should pay a royalty!

The government has already licensed 50 year mortgages here. At present it's only from specialist lenders but who knows what the future holds.

The previous government were looking into 100 year mortgages that get passed on to your kids when you die but that didn't seem to go anywhere but shows these things are being considered.

You’ve been reading SDP policy again haven’t you about removing the financial barriers to making families? Anyway, yes, unless we encourage folks to have families and encourage an alternate look to care then society is doomed.

EG:

It’s 2026. Learning about the inside of volcanoes for GCSE is outdated in an internet and ChatGPT era.

Compulsory human care courses instead. Each child to know the basics of first aid, hygienic care, nutrition through recovery, how to interface with online medics (which will be AI eventually in many cases I’m afraid).
Sick family member? Paid leave to look after them (if you are up to date with you CHC (think like having to redo first aid course every three years on a refresher)). Why? It relieves pressure on NHS and is far cheaper and is actually how human society should work.

I’ll let you in to a secret. Do you think senior ministers and SPADs have a clue or are interested in genuine initiatives? They ain’t. They are both stupid and controlled by powerful lobby groups determined, it seems, in eroding the fabric of society for fiscal selfish ends.

We are society I believe and I try to change what can and accept what I can’t and be wise to know the difference

Tony Benn made a speech in the Commons decades ago alluding to the same thing. Thatcherite promotion of home ownership allied to Unionless, reduced working rights employment has you enslaved.

Three things I’d like to see on that note:

Universal childcare up to 2 children
Universal free school breakfast and lunch
Paternity leave entitlement increased up to 3 months

Family friendly policies with multiple benefits for each.
I can’t understand why no party will tackle the birth rate issue with something like this and instead leave us in a death spiral of immigration arguments.

I saw Starmer smugly going on about how well they were doing on childcare, in his interview with Laura Kuenssberg.

It had me seething to be honest. The rules as they are mean we qualify for free hours…if we get divorced or I become unemployed, but not if I remain on a doctorate while my wife works full time. Yet I hear him patting himself on the back.

It is because they won't confront the fact that Thatcher and Reagan started this particular Epoch Which is now now morphed into something akin to conserve what we have which isn't a lot to start with and the super elites have gained all before them!
Crisis followed by financial stimulus Which just feeds them more!

It certainly feels we’re headed to a grim future.

Tech bros getting everyone to work for shitty wages to help them get even richer is where it’s headed.
We're progressing people like Elon 's vision of our future, we may resist it but I doubt we'll succeed .
How long have we got
How many resources do we have to drive us into the future.and does it involve us humans at our current rate of consumption?

Things like this could be used to make the world a much better place. They will instead be used to concentrate wealth into even fewer hands while everyone else is divided up and pitted against each other.

I think it’s only dumb luck that saves the situation now.

It's not a long term answer either. You can't just keep having more and more people to help care and provide for those already here because eventually those people will need that too. It's a need for perpetual growth and increased consumption in a world of finite land and resources. It's just going to lead to conflict.
