Seems to be people here who lose their minds whenever the subject comes up here but like you say in a lot of other countries it's the norm. The subject has come up a couple of times with friends from Europe who are always amazed we don't have anything in place here.
I think it’s great the nhs appHow could we trust the competence of governments past and present to get this right?
I'm signed up to the NHS app, its been several years in development and still seriously flawed in my opinion. for instance I need life prolonging medication, yet the app can't be logged into when out of the country. My GP won't take calls for repeat prescriptions their policy is used the app! some service's are available others are not it dependant who administers it.
The ID as a mandatory requirement when various organisation have access (banks etc) to it is a complete no no to me.
And the most common theft in UK is phone theft - it’s a gift
Do you not have online banking on your phone?
I imagine it will be a physical card .. like you said whats the point of it ?Over 4 million don’t have a smart phone. How do they access an identity card?
Why do people want this ?
We have driving licences , passports , national insurance numbers ..
Another labour party fail
Well yeah.I imagine it will be a physical card .. like you said whats the point of it ?
Well that's the point no? It centralises all in one place.

No it’s digital apparently
Just put all those things into one place anyway ? Why add an ID card .. dont the government already do a onegov thing already ?
Yeah I can't see how it is going to do that or cut down on black market workers. Its point is to stop illegal migration it seems. Hows that going to work? Sounds expensive as well.
They are all separate things at the moment, this would potentially bring them all together.
Like in Estonia it's your ID and gives you access to healthcare and voting etc. How is that not more convenient?
The bastion of modern brillianceGreat we are going to be like Estonia!
Great we are going to be like the pioneers of this technology!
Fixed for you, fucking idiot.
The bastion of modern brilliance
Isn't that just my passport or driving license that can be used as id?
Yes but with this you only need your phone and don't need however many cards.
Driving license/passport can be lost and cloned/used by someone else. Digital ID would be way more secure if you lost your phone.
I can’t wait. Perhaps we can even aim to be like Lithuania one day.
What if you dont fancy having a phone anymore ?And the 5 million who don’t have a phone?
What if you dont fancy having a phone anymore ?
What if you dont fancy having a phone anymore ?
Estonia is miles ahead of most places with a lot of day-to-day tech. stuff tbf and have been for a while.
Obviously there will be a physical card, but most people are going to have it on their phone
Eh? I have all my apps on my phone.
Oddly it’s only you who seems to support it -what a surprise.
