How could we trust the competence of governments past and present to get this right?
I'm signed up to the NHS app, its been several years in development and still seriously flawed in my opinion. for instance I need life prolonging medication, yet the app can't be logged into when out of the country. My GP won't take calls for repeat prescriptions their policy is used the app! some service's are available others are not it dependant who administers it.
The ID as a mandatory requirement when various organisation have access (banks etc) to it is a complete no no to me.

Seems to be people here who lose their minds whenever the subject comes up here but like you say in a lot of other countries it's the norm. The subject has come up a couple of times with friends from Europe who are always amazed we don't have anything in place here.

What is the point of it?

Do you not have online banking on your phone?

Over 4 million don’t have a smart phone. How do they access an identity card?

I don't see the issue with it? Everything is all on systems anyway.

It's not like the olden days if you got pulled over you had to go to the station with your documents to be checked 😂

Won't it just be a case of merging things somehow?

Well that's the point no? It centralises all in one place.

Its point is to stop illegal migration it seems. Hows that going to work? Sounds expensive as well.

Great we are going to be like Estonia!

They are all separate things at the moment, this would potentially bring them all together.

Like in Estonia it's your ID and gives you access to healthcare and voting etc. How is that not more convenient?

Isn't that just my passport or driving license that can be used as id?

Fixed for you, fucking idiot.

It’s you that’s wanking over Estonia and aiming to achieve their standards of identity

Yes but with this you only need your phone and don't need however many cards.

Driving license/passport can be lost and cloned/used by someone else. Digital ID would be way more secure if you lost your phone.

And the 5 million who don’t have a phone?

Dont think some countries will allow you in without a passport? Can Estonians travel the world with it on a smartphone?

I can’t wait. Perhaps we can even aim to be like Lithuania one day.

What if you dont fancy having a phone anymore ?

I don’t think the man from Estonia has thought this through.

No need for passports - it’s all on the cloud!!
