Yeah I've stated before there's clearly a significant bias in the rhetoric used in the media and on socials when a far left radicalist commits a crime compared to someone on the far right which needs addressing, but the point I'm trying to make is it's literally all conjecture in regards to a direct motive at this point.

Said motive is perhaps looking clearer as more information is revealed but the trans partner is claiming they didn't have a clue about why he did this, nor his family or his friends and he's not cooperating at all.

So there's nothing really definitive yet.

The more reports that come out, the more it contradicts the idea he was a ‘radical leftist’ as Trump said he was. The Administration probably already knew this hence Trump’s immediate comments.

Possibly she will be attempting to get elected in a Birmingham seat instead. She doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of reelection in Coventry South if she is not on the Labour ticket.

Usually a person's best chance of getting elected is to be the incumbent.

If she couldn't win her own seat against an unpopular Labour she's not got a chance in another seat.

I think that is a small possibility, though it would be a shock for all three to turn. I think Sultana's seat is the biggest likelihood, as she's no longer Labour and the candidate will be new.

There's a full council election next year, and I expect that will become Reform, so arguably there's a few years of seeing them be batshit to alter the outcome. However, I think even that wouldn't be enough, as many would say "they can't do what they want because of the government" and actual see it as even more reason to vote for a Reform government. A bit like Brexit, where they got that on the basis it would reduce immigration, it didn't and yet you've still got its main ringleader Farage being incredibly popular because the government "didn't get the Brexit he wanted". When in reality it's because Brexit was never going to able to do it regardless.

100% the Brexit we got, is exact the Brexit Farage wanted, a full Brexit, no customs union, no free movement. He's the arsonist who's didn't have to deal with the consequences, so he can continue to snipe from the side lines and blame the Tories and make up some bollocks of a Utopian Brexit he'd have negotiated if only he'd have been in power.

And it's quite ironic that the very same Brexit he wanted, that has not only severely impact growth and the economy, but means that we a) don't have the "if you've been refused from one EU country you've been refused by all policy, b) don't have returns agreements with Europe and c) don't have access to the necessary databases to track asylum seeker/refugees or the criminal European databases needed to help tackle the traffickers.

He's the arsonist standing at the side of the road blaming the firemen for not putting the fire out properly.

I wouldn't go out on either protest pal but this thread is the same out of touch hypocritical mess its always been. Completely unaware of the mood in the country and how it got to this point. Hope you enjoy a Reform government.

I don't think there's many, if any, on here that are unaware of the mood of the country.

What they are aware of that that others aren't is that the things being suggested by the likes of Farage aren't going to result in the outcome they want. A lot of what farage says is just playing to the crowd.

Brexit was the same. Pretty much everyone that was Remain knew that many people in the country were very dissatisfied with the EU, there were problems with it and it needed reform, but they also knew just leaving would be counterproductive and lead to even more problems. They were proved correct.

That will happen in this instance too. Almost no-one is unaware of the mood of the country. There are aware that a large number of people think immigration is too high. A lot of them even agree with that sentiment to an extent and that it's causing issues with housing, health service and many other services, and so it needs action. But they also can see that what is being proposed by the right wing and extremists like Farage is not going to be the solution, so why shouldn't they tell people that? It would be negligent to not say so. But instead it's "you're out of touch and unaware of the mood of the country!". No we're not, we're trying to stop it being even worse.

If you saw someone with a cut on their arm and were about to put their arm in a shredder to cure it, do you not think it's your responsibility to tell them it's a very bad idea and maybe a bandage might be a better idea?

I agree entirely.

But those that were fooled into thinking he had the answers and things got worse are going to use the excuse that it's in fact not what he wanted rather than have to admit they were wrong and he's just a charlatan without a clue.

And I don't think she'll win and would arguably have a better opportunity in a seat she already occupies.

Doesn't exactly make it look like you care about your constituents. And she's not got the party loyalty 'safe seat' that many who move constituencies have to stop that being an issue. She'll be running for a fringe unknown party and we've seen what has happened to others that have done so in recent years.

I would argue that she'd probably have a better chance as an independent but she's a divisive figure.

The Abbott stuff is disgusting. How are these people anywhere near government?

Not the first time she's been the target of some pretty horrific treatment either.

Dan Hodges is reporting that ‘Starmer Allies’ (somewhat of an oxymoron) belief his opponents have a ‘cache’ of messages ready to be leaked.

Reminds me of ‘In The Thick of It’ when Malcom Tucker calls for an inquiry that eventually backfires. Here, Starmer presented himself ‘holier than thou’ in opposition and the mounting ‘scandals’ will end up bringing him down.

He won’t last much longer.

I really do wonder whether McSweeney is behind all this (as in, the internal Labour misgivings) as a play to get Streeting in charge.

McSweeney and Starmer’s fates are intertwined. Starmer’s enemies (there’s a lot) are mobilising against him and McSweeney.

Interesting to see media reports surfacing around Starmer loyalists trying to make a deal with Burnham to head off a leadership challenge, especially given when this was discussed a couple of days ago the consensus seemed to be there was zero chance he would mount a bid.

How could he not know? Mandy said a couple of years back he was fed up of the link and nothing to answer. Surely they'd have done due diligence before appointing to such an important role.
