Think paying all the people they employ’s wages is redistribution of wealth, why should they just give money for free it’s ridiculous

Well when they earn many, many, many times more from the person actually doing the work if it is redistribution it's to the rich.

What the actual fuck are you going on about? I replied to a post about the tories only looking out for the rich, and gave clear, real examples of things they've done to help out working class families too..... and your reply is banging on about capitalism and socialism? Are you actually ok? Get a fucking grip and put the wine bottle away mate! Have a rest from the Internet for a bit. I don't know what angle you're coming at for a gotcha, but its a bit weird!

Not as much as those of my friends who are cardiologists or paediatricians or GPs or others in medicine as nurses or doctors or consultants

I thrust of his speech was basically that the medical profession is inordinately influenced by industry interests, he argued that drug vendors should be subject to independent verification of their results.

Anyway you do as you see fit and I shall do as I see fit.

Did he get kidnapped and told he was giving a speech in the USA, because that's what he's describing, not the UK.

Ok, let's deal with those then.

When the personal allowance is increased it actually benefits the rich most, as it means less of their income is in higher tax brackets. Also the same with upping the upper tax band. £42k at the time was well above the average wage (and still is) so actually benefits the rich and those on above average wages while poorer households get nothing from it at all.

What they're good at is making policies that on the face of it seem to be beneficial to 'normal' people but are in fact much more of a benefit for them and their rich mates.

It gets to a certain level of sheer stupidity I can’t help myself. Bad enough one of his fellow conspiracy mongers was put in charge of US health and is busy overseeing outbreaks of measles because he doesn’t believe in the MMR jab.

Come on man, raising the personal allowance at least in line with inflation has been standard policy for years. That stupid Thatcherite moron chancellor not doing it currently will have an impact on everybody, the lowest paid and the higher paid. She is literally removing £ and therefore demand from the economy.

I don't disagree with it increasing by inflation but the argument being made was they made these changes (which were well above inflation) for the benefit of average people. They weren't. It was for the benefit of those who are richer. The fact that it would have a small benefit to those on lower incomes was just something they could use for political spin - it was not the purpose of it.

And then you can argue that because it reduces tax revenues overall there is less to spend on public services, which are used more by those on low incomes, so what may have saved them £40 in income tax cost them £50 in reduced services and other benefits.

Reform, like the Republicans they're doing a very poor tribute act to, do a hell of a lot of projection. They are the ones who really want to undermine free speech, electoral integrity, concentrate wealth in the hands of fewer people etc etc.

Said before, people are very right to be angry about living in big swathes of the country that were abandoned in the 80s and forgotten about ever since. The problem is that the far right have done brilliantly in leading them down the garden path to blaming the wrong people and wanting the wrong solutions.

My grandad grew up in a mining village, ultimately became a psychiatrist and had no problem until his dying days with paying higher taxes so that more could have access to opportunities that he didn't. He didn't have the 'I'm alright Jack' attitude that's now prevalent on here and elsewhere.

The irony there being that their guy lost an election when he was the president and won two when he wasn't.
