There are a few people seemingly struggling with this news, but this goes a lot deeper than left versus right or whatever.

The fact of the matter is that we have such low quality politicians, with many of them not only thinking they are above the average person, but also act with such little integrity. They have also created an environment where there is such a low tolerance for making a mistake, or having a tough point of view. If I forget to pay council tax, or accidentally drive into a bus lane - no one will show you any mercy. That’s the system our politicians built. So when they bend the rules, whether it was a mistake or not, of course the public is furious. Especially when they initially try and wriggle out of it.

Frankly, they should be a lot more careful when it comes to things like this. There are many politicians from an abundance of parties that cannot be trusted, including the Conservatives, and many of the ones found in the European Union too. There should be zero tolerance and it doesn't matter who you vote for.

Looking at how many ‘resets’ this government had and recent history with the Tories, this government doesn’t get to 2028 imo. Frankly, a general election next year in 2026 isn’t an outlandish view to have anymore.

The previous incumbents had 3 PMs in the space of a year and refused to call an election.

Scandal after scandal - 'let's give them 14 years, just give them a chance!'

Starmer gets some free glasses and Rayner doesn't pay enough stamp duty - 'we must get them out immediately, before the parliament is done'

God it's funny how badly the right have taken to losing an election

With such a large majority I can't see it, unless the Labour backbenchers start to wrest control of policy away from Starmer and make his position untenable. It's not impossible, given the revolt over spending cuts, but with the current state of the polls I can't see turkeys voting for Christmas. It's more likely that the government will stagger on in the hope that something will turn up.

If underpaying stamp duty is the new bar for resignations then there will be no Reform MPs left about 6 days into their government.

David Lammy is the new deputy prime minister and justice secretary. Yvette Cooper moves to foreign secretary.

I wonder if Pat McFadden might be the new home secretary.

P.S. Shabana Mahmood is the new home secretary.

Where once there was car crash politics, the Palace of Westminster appears to now be one never ending stock car race venue.

Wonder what Starmer says in his weekly audiences with King Charles.

‘Morning Keir’

‘Toolmaker’

‘What?’

‘Nurse’

‘You needed one of those a long time ago’

I mean, if calling for somebody to lose their job, after that person spent 14 years demanding every opposition MP lose their job for the same thing is "taking losing an election badly" then what the fuck do we call losing the brexit referendum and the tantrums STILL happening to this day?

Christ. These are not serious people.

I'm sure they'll make politics less of a laughing stock and bring some serious and sensible politicians to the table.

Nobody is still having tantrums about Brexit.

More sitting back and laughing at the fucking idiots that voted for it and marvelling at their stupidity.

There's a difference

I think the country has seen far too much of America on social media. This is great, if you're a yank! However, were not, and this is just awful!

Just look at Starmer's attempted reform of the welfare system. Rendered entirely useless by his own backbenchers! God help him if he even suggests making the necessary amendments to the ECHR, hes got no chance of doing anything that actually needs to be done, hes stymied at every turn by the loony left of his own party.

I have no love whatsoever for Starmer, but part of me actually feels sorry for him, he's leading a bunch of complete idiots, his own backbenchers will eventually be his undoing.

We havn't had Brexit, the country voted for it, but both political parties where vehemently against it, as was our civil service, and so no Brexit was ever delivered.

Some people are quietly waiting for a new political party to come into office and attempt to actually deliver what the people voted for, while half the population smuggly think that Brexit failed as they dont have the intelligence to know any different.

tbf I think the most searched term in the UK in the 24 hours after the referendum was 'what is the EU?' so I'm not sold on the idea that everyone knew what they voted for
