Was looking at the stats and something surprised me slightly.
Wright has played nearly double the minutes of Simms this season but only has 3 more goals. I don’t think this is as simple as “one is better than the other”, but it does raise questions.
For me, Wright can be really hot and cold. Some games he looks unplayable and everything sticks. Other days he doesn’t seem at it at all. He often needs a couple of missed chances before he finds his range. Simms feels similar in that sense. He’s definitely improved his hold-up play and physicality compared to last season, but with his size and frame you still feel like he should be dominating centre-halves more consistently.
So what do people think — is Wright’s extra game time justified, or would Simms produce similar (or better) numbers with a consistent run? (Aside from those who think they’re both crap — I think you’re only half right.
