The state of our waterways is an absolute disgrace. It’s incredible to me that it’s been allowed to happen.
Make ethical decisions for the good of all people and the environment?Fully privatised

I was in Copenhagen last year. All around the harbour is a hive of activity with people swimming, canoeing etc. Seems like most of the city hits the water after work and at weekends which must have a huge impact on the local economy.I didn’t know that Britain’s the only country to privatise.

I don’t think people are aware enough of the shit show that it isShame his mate did nothing about it after 13 years in office then
Our waterways were relatively clean during that time, and had been improving. They were the best they'd been in decades.Shame his mate did nothing about it after 13 years in office then
Yep that really comes acrossOur waterways were relatively clean during that time, and had been improving. They were the best they'd been in decades.
They've become increasingly worse since the Tories came in who basically decided it was OK for them to fill our seas and rivers with shit and chemicals for a tiny slap on the wrist than make them invest in the infrastructure to deal with it.
They choose to pollute the rivers because the fines are smaller than actually cleaning it up, which makes the fines a joke. Rather than a deterrent to pollute they are practically an encouragement.
