Difficult to pick the right team for the New Den... (4 Viewers)

Who want's to take a stab at it ?

I would drop Juke to the bench for a rest and have Platt up top with Cody.
I would bring Freddie back from the cold and bench him...no point paying a perfectly capable player and not using him.

Deagan must start and a place should be found for McPake/Cameron at the back.

Put Keogh out right back.

Midfield of Bell, Clingan Deegan and Macca

4-4-2 and use the witdth to supply the big man little man link.

I agree it is a very difficult team to pick at the moment simply because not enough players are not performing well enough to make themselves first choice currently. I have no idea what side or formation I would go with tbh, I do like the diamond at times but how productive we are depends on how the AM plays it is pivotal to creating chances etc. so if the AM doesn't perform we are pretty toothless and Mcsheffrey isn't consistent enough to have our performance depending on him.

I would like to go 4-3-3 but I wouldn't want to drop Mcdonald. 4-4-2 is an option but if that was the case I would go with Baker and Mcsheffrey on the wings.

It's a difficult one for me, we are never going to put a decent run together if we can't put the same team out for a run of 5-6 match's. This is one of the major reasons the diamond has failed this season, we've had to play so many different combinations up front and in midfield which is making it difficult to put patterns of play together.

Juke, Christie and possibly Thomas could probably do with a rest but a lot will rest on whether Hussey and Wood are fit or not. However making 4 or 5 changes is not a good idea, how can you put a cohesive run together when your chopping and changing the starting line up, whether due to form or fitness.

I would stick with the Diamond - the thought of Bell and McSheffrey on the wings fills me with dread, and i don't believe we'd create anymore chances with those two out wide, and we'll get more overrun in the centre of the park.

Would struggle in a diamond set up though as that requires a lot of pace up and down the flanks.

Meaning we have a solid 5 at the back against a strong milwall, that then will mean the attack minded two wing backs can get more forward and whipping balls in for the two big lads.
I believe baker is far better than bell and putting him behind the front two he will be in his element.

Yeah 3 times and never seen us win haha. Never went to the old den, would love to have. What football away days would have been about. Ninian park for the cup game back in 03 would have been the closest to the old den I reckon.

haha still in short trousers then! Most of my away trips were in the late 80's when it was still affordable. Always seemed like an adventure then, almost tribal really with the best result getting back to Cov unscathed. The end of terracing took a shine off things for me. To be fair there were as many days when a good crack was had with the home fans as there were trouble. Football fans were treated like scum, sometimes with justification but it felt good to belong to something. Funny now to look back at so called hard cases with highlighted mullets and bad jumpers

We need experience when going down there. I can't help but think the younger lads might be a little bit worried about reputation etc. We also need a bit of grit about us, they have some big (size) players so we need to be able to deal with them.

Putting Wood behind McSheffrey in a 4-4-2 makes sense. Wood won't offer anything going forward, so would sit and allow McSheffrey to concentrate on attacking. This can also quickly turn into 4-3-3 once McSheffrey pushes on.

Only reservation would be about Bell or Baker, need crosses for Cody, he seems to get on the end of em'

I'm sure that McPake will start. We need his steel at the back, and he will lead by example - something we have missed from a lot of the senior players.

I would like to see Juke and Plattini up front. The twist is Cody advanced midfield. We need height up front, but someone nippy running onto the knockdowns. Christie at RB to put a bit of speed up the wing. not to go up front too often though.

4-3-1-2 so with Christie running forward can give 5 in midfield but also whilst on front foot we will have 3 strikers up front with the height to offer a challenge to their defence. Would be good to have Sheffers on left wing. Could give us many more chances than we are used to getting lately. Would make a few teams sit back further than normal.

Playing him in that roll will nullify the space, and instead of playing of the last man will have a defensive midfielder as well as centre backs between him and the goal.
