If it was us people would be saying they only got a new contract to sell them for more..

I imagine he’ll play tomorrow for the U23s. The game was supposed to be at Sphinx Drive but it’s now at the Alan Higgs Centre with a 7pm kick off

It’s good to see that we are investing for the future, and looking at young local talent. We’ve brought in a few young lads this pre season, and if only one or two make it into the first team in the future, then who knows how much they could be worth.
It’s all part of having a sustainable buisiness model.

Good players are out there in non league. Sometimes they appreciate the opportunity more.

It’s a good move , everyone has to start somewhere, building a team is not just buying anyone , it’s developing an ethos and competition to start in the first team

I can't see the issue with signing him, he won't be on massive money and will go into the U23's and we can see what he's like. Will be another like Bouma I guess.

It is just adding more into the mix alongside our academy players.

But if he costs a grand a week and we have four others the same that’s five grand a week that’s been moved from the first team budget, this model they talk about is it through shit at the wall and hope some sticks because that’s how it looks for every Hyam you get a Sayoud

I doubt he is going to be on a grand a week is he? He will be at the lower end of the scale alongside players like Finn, Maycock, Eccles etc etc.

I bet he is not far off ( my nephew is on over 25k a year a level below the conference)and if it’s five hundred and agin four others it’s two and a half grand still a first team players wage.

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t get the fuss with building up the under 23’s we don’t have a striker for the first team and we are spending time and money bringing in kids for the reserve team.

Thinking about it my nephew was getting 25k per year as a first year pro at Fleetwood so maybe nearer £500 a week

It’s called building for the future. A very sensible approach in my eyes.

But the four youngsters will probably have less agent fees for the club to pay than that of a pro. It should also be considered an investment to consider re-selling for the future. Peterborough have been doing it for a good few years now, some can be duds others can be sold for multiple millions. Think it shows a bit of willingness to put some risk back in to the club.

Anyone know what's happened to Daniel Armstrong? I'm guessing with the arrival of Walters we've moved on from signing him...

The club will have different budgets for U23

It might even been paid and funded for outside SISU , it is a possible investment and certain companies or individuals will invest and bank roll it , you know SISU relies on external investment right ?

It’s essential for clubs like us to grow our own talent, look at all of our recent sales proves the reason to why we need to do this. If you get one or two punch through to the first team it pays for itself 10 fold

Would that not be classed as third party ownership?

Screw the future, we've got millions to spend every year so we can just buy the finished article.

No as they invest in SISU to realise a return it may be a company dealing with SISU , a bit like a pension you give the money to say standard life who buy the shares on to invest in your plan . You don’t own the shares but if they do well then you benefit. It’s not quite a simple as that but sort of what happens .

Either way it’s an investment in a player and if it comes of then the club, SISU and investors win , look at Maddison for instance .

I can see how the investors win. as a product of the academy Maddison wouldn’t come into this or is it anything apart from the first team?

So the investors are investing in just the youth players and not the other millions that have given no return?

Erm, ok then

Has he actually signed? Just been speaking to guy who's son plays for Tamworth with him, said he is a brilliant prospect.

Would assume so if he is having squad photos.

Said he was quick and dribbles around people for fun, and a class above those he's been playing against. Said we've got a good player on our hands for the future. Will be interesting to see how fynn does there, sounded like Walters didn't get much of a chance in their first team despite being head and shoulders above everyone in their development side.

McDonald is featured as well though. If they're not actively signing for someone on the day they'll be in the picture. Doesn't mean he won't be off. Apparently Macclesfield and Oldham are interested.
