A club without a stadium in its home city is hardly attractive to investors, neither will be getting ripped off by a franchise rugby club to use their stadium.

It’s like buying land without planning permission
However if you get permission first the value will be much higher

The plans for the new ground at the University would address this for a serious investor
Brighton I suppose are the template

Fully agree with you but I’m not convinced yet that the ground plans are serious.

Although could a potential new owner use the land Sisu may have agreed with the university to build a ground there themselves?
Would take a buyer willing to make a massive investment though...

I'm not sure why you wouldn't write an extension clause into a players contract where you can. Gives the club flexibility.

I'm not sure it did. He was kept on as an emergency option on a very low wage for the level. Had we had to bring someone else in it would have cost significantly more which may have meant we had to compromise more elsewhere.

How so? It wasn't an obligation, it was an option in our favour, we chose to take it up.

As Mark said, obviously felt we couldn't get better for the money involved & Baka still had untapped potential.

Equally, in Robins' mind he probably wasn't forecasting for the loss of both Godden and Walker long term.

In theory Baka, nor Biamou were meant to play much of a part this season so dedicating time and resources to bring in a 3rd choice striker was futile, as it would quite clearly be a hard sell bringing in an adequate striker who's happy to play third fiddle.

Realistically it's far easier just to take the calculated risk of extending Baka's contract for another year to ensure that there's at least some cover behind Godden and Walker, and just hope it wouldn't get to the stage where he'd have to be called upon on a consistent basis.

That's the long and the short of it isn't it?

Would people rather we signed one less other player to bring in someone who still wouldn't be in the team? It's just bad luck we've lost both our strikers for most of the season.

Exactly. I think as fans we fail to realise the amount of calculated risks that football managers and backroom staff are forced to take in the transfer window, whether that be in regards to bringing in players or retaining them - especially those who manage clubs with a similar budget size to ours.

There's only a finite amount of time in a single window therefore in order to be as efficient as possible within said window it's obvious that in some positions Robins may be forced to settle for what he has, as there just isn't the time or resources to address every single position - certainly not on our budget or staff size anyway.

Derby made 3 signings today. Has something changed there?

He's not going to have come cheap. I bet they paid a bigger loan fee for him than we have for any transfers this year. Did their takeover go through or something?

Yup, I know they've let a couple go too but surely questions need to be asked.

How does that work then

Can’t pay wages but then go out and sign 5 players next month

Rooney could probably drop half his salary to cover them
