I’m thinking more selfishly. Yeah I agree on submssion. How come they’ve not been in a transfer embargo for 3 years?

I assume this was the year they sold their ground to the owners - I suspect the accounts when eventually published will reveal a substantial profit that year to keep them under the FFP 3 year limit

As the season will have started by the time they finally submit accounts it will almost certainly be a points deduction this season. They should still be under embargo too so you'd think that's one Relegation spot almost nailed on.

Harsh on Wycombe yes, wouldn't be surprised if they try to seek some form of compensation, but where do you draw the line? This dates back as far as Derby's 2016 accounts so they've effectively cheated other teams out of Playoff places in that timeframe too.

It has to. You can't allow clubs to get away with behaviour like this, it just encourages others to do the same. And the punishment needs to be applied now so Wycombe know they are in the Championship this season and can prepare.

It's often been said that the Championship is a financial "basket case". The gambling by clubs speculating on promotion to the PL has encouraged others.
For instance Bournemouth & Villa both broke the FFP rules, but because they gained promotion there was no sanction that the EFL could hit them with. Villa speculated £91M on gaining promotion.
It's come home to roost for Derby! That £60k pw [or whatever it was] paid to Rooney is a manifestation of madness.

Another scandal they somehow got away with due to the weak EFL rules.
Permitted losses for the 3 year period are £39m, they conveniently sell their ground, valued at £41m, to their owner for £80m meaning their losses were under the accepted limit. That's with this "creative accounting" too. They're corrupt as fuck & should be made an example of.

The EFL will surely have modelled what the accounts would show using a recognised amortisation calculation even if taking into account the sale of Pride Park.

They should be relegated this season gone really - its unfair on Wycombe - what I do not understand is they have not submitted any accounts since 2018 and how that can be permitted under EFL legislation

And how they've been able to continue signing players whilst others have been placed under embargo for not submitting accounts. All a bit strange.

I do hope they get relegated
But then again, Rooney might do alright in L1, and he'll lap it all up (again) and make it all about him!
but do hope they both go down and he performs shit

Wycombe owner accuses Derby of 'systematic cheating'

Wycombe owner Rob Couhig accuses Derby of "systematic cheating" and threatens to sue for millions of pounds if his club are denied a place in the Championship.
www.bbc.co.uk

Seems like the Wycombe Chairman isn't going to take Derby's 'slap on the wrist' punishment lying down.
Promising to sue their woolly asses for cheating, if Wycombe have to play in Div 1 next season.
Good on him

It's a win/win for us. If Derby stay up, they are likely to have a points deduction, a weaker team due to financial issues (being sued, under embargo). Investors will more likely be put off, as will any decent new signings. If Wycombe come up, they will have been recruiting for League 1, plus we always beat them ! Awful for Derby fans - not their fault, but with them and Sheffield Wednesday it just shows how the spend, spend approach, when you don't have it, can destroy your club.

Yes he is a has been. What has he done in football since his days at Man Utd and now given a managers job on silly money where he failed and they should have been relegated.

Imagine what would have happened to Cov if we’d done that. 20 point deduction at least.

It's a real sorry state of affairs for Derby. That car crash with their players (inc Keogh), the sale of PP for double it's value and paying exorbitant wages they couldn't afford - I'm afraid they'll deserve everything they get.

I do feel sorry for the fans (as always) and Wycombe Wanderers FC.

Dont Derby have to provide 3-4 years worth of accounts now using the correct figures?

Wonder if HMRC will be having a look in to this mess.

Derby fans want Derby to sue the EFL for incompetence.....

Also havent Wycombe sold players due to being relegated ?

Shouldn't Derby fans look at their own clubs incompetence first?

City appear to have done things the correct 'Underhand' way and the fans have seen their club relegated through the leagues. Maybe this was due to recruiting staff according to the rules/ means or lack of effort amongst those who remained. And of course the small matter of bleeding themselves of revenue when they went on walkabout.

You would think so. But look on their forum. Basicly its all the EFL's fault. Not Derbys dodgy dealings

It’s always the fans that suffer but if I was a Derby fan I’d take relegation now rather than a points deduction, which could be significant and even higher than Sheffield Wednesdays last season almost certainly guarantees a relegation struggle and likely relegation and who knows what lasting damage but dropping to league one now with a clean slate in my opinion they would be promotion challengers and could be back in the championship in twelve months.

Hopefully they have broken FFP and are given a points deduction, resulting in them being relegated at the end of the season.

I don't think the EFL were ever going to relegate Derby retrospectively, I think they have messed up by announcing the alternative fixture list, now Wycombe will be on their back.
The only way Derby will be punished further is if their accounts break FFP, as you say.

Considering Sky announced a couple of live Derby games yest, not wholly unsurprising

I suspect the EFL will try and throw the book at them for any FFP breaches in their revised accounts...
