Why not? If we allow them as much time and space around the box as we did Derby tonight then they’re going to have fun time whipping cross after cross onto the head of the big lumps they’ve got up front. Went well for us last season when we played a back 4 against this Rotherham side...

It was a great individual strike and nothing to do with him - let’s not forget we also had chances (better ones) to score before he was on the pitch

If Max can get praised from the rafters from a one yard tap in I'm playing the same card with Baka!
For Saturday I'd play Baka and Walker in a front two would be great to watch and would cause them all sorts of issues.

Of course MR won't do it and as we got a point will still no doubt play one up top,,,,

It’s not supposed to be, like I have said before it’s better to be a boring team than an unlucky one. I’m still not convinced about the durability of it though, when we lose a few what happens then?

It essentially relies on conceding no more than 1 a game

Wanted a win before the match started, but relieved with a point at the end. We’re very much a work in progress and although I’m disappointed not to have beaten the bottom team in the league, we probably didn’t deserve to win the match. The goal over this mini unbeaten run has clearly been to stop the bleeding in terms of goals conceded. 2 of the 3 points we have amassed in our away matches have come in the last 2 matches. Kelly’s presence has coincided with that. Hopefully Godden returns soon and we can turn these draws into wins. We didn’t win an away match last season until December against Wycombe. So I hope history repeats itself. Based on today’s performance I think Sheaf needs to replace Shipley and we need to have 2 strikers up top. Not sure what other changes may be needed, but do we have the personnel to play 4-4-2 instead of formations that either have 1 isolated striker or leave us prone to being overrun in midfield?

Is Ohare going to get slaughtered as much as biamou did when he missed 2 sitters. Doubt it.

Ohare is making a habit last few games of missing some glorious chances.

He reminds me very much of Ryan Kent when he was with us. Looks great on the ball, gets you on the edge of your seat then nothing. As our marquee signing and allegedly highest earner we need more end product from him.

I thought McCallum was carrying an injury and was left in too long, Derby certainly exploited our left side but we got a point, better than none.

Are you going to ignore the fact that we actually missed sitters? We created enough to win the game. I’m glad you’re not our manager

It’s funny isn’t it that the opposition missing sitters is used as justification for the system being brilliant but then you want me to acknowledge us missing chances. You can’t have this both ways

Had a bit of time to reflect on a really, really disappointing performance but a relieving result.

Honestly thought it would be a defensive formation in the first half before cutting loose on the hour mark or so. Just couldn't understand the tactic of surrendering the midfield and inviting pressure on until we're a goal down before changing the attack formation with a few minutes to go.

Then I thought about MR's patterns of play from previous seasons and I think he is seeing the season in two halves. After trying the expansive approach earlier on and seeing it failing results wise he seems to be opting for a turgid, difficult to beat mentality to get a point(s) on the board regardless of the opposition's position in the table. Even if it does stifle some of our own attacking play. I think he will keep this going until the squad properly acclimatises in terms of fitness, sharpness and availability before going out to control games like we did last season. Obviously being a league higher it will be a far more difficult task but I guess the approach plan is centred over a couple of seasons.

Even if that turns out to be the case, it really felt like watching the ole predictable City going from the sublime to the ridiculous and back again with me in full rant!

We do as Hamer and Kelly or sheaf can play in the CM spots and Jobello or Bapaga on the Right and Giles on the left

Playing 4-2-3-1 would allow us to utilise them that way with O’Hare behind the striker. Problem is we played something akin to that last night and Walker still cut an isolated figure-he cannot lead the line on his own

I thought last night was pretty unremarkable. But I think that is what we have to expect until January.

We tried controlling games and being more open and were shifting goals, we've gone more compact and 4 at the back to stop conceding because frankly we haven't looked like scoring multiple goals in a match.

I think when/if we get a striker in January as was suggested by MR we will go back to wingback and 3 at the back.

For me at the minute its about getting through to Feb and not being adrift, which didn't look likely a couple of weeks back.

I agree our passing was poor in the whole game. I honestly didn't see 'wave after wave' of attacks though. What I did see though was a poor defensive game from Dabo. In his his defence, the way he was holding back from tackles suggested to me that he he still isn't fully fit.

He was out of position. We found out last season that like McCallum he’s a WB not a FB. Just like we found out Shipley isn’t a winger. Apparently we’ve forgotten that again.

Happy to help him out:

you played ten men 20 yards from goal and Walker on the shoulder.

We didn’t “play our game” because our game is mostly players playing in their proper positions in a formation they understand.

Dabo and McCallum aren’t FBs, Shipley isn’t a winger and Giles isn’t a RW, Walker isn’t a target man and the CBs aren’t at their best in a two. It’s just bodies behind the ball and it wasn’t 4231 it was 45——-1

We didn't play wingers, we played 3 attacking midfielders

Part of the problem actually, we didn't have enough width

We played 4231, it was visible in game

You don't play 2 holding midfielders behind a 3 in a 451

I think a big frustration is that we can accept us starting games intending to frustrate the opposition and then open up and go for it but we could all see Derby's goal coming last night, players were getting knackered, the team was deeper and deeper and the ball kept coming back. We were crying out for another outlet up top and we made some like for like changes that did nothing to stop it.

As soon as we conceded we put the second forward on, took the initiative and got the goal, if we'd have made that change on the hour we could have won.

Only just watched the highlight of the goal. Hamer has a couple of decent volleys this season. Would like to see him up on the edge of the box waiting for the second ball more often. He's a real weapon.

*sorry if he's up there already, I only get to watch highlights and not the full games.

Yes ohare, Giles and Shipley were thay deep they left walker completely isolated. We lacked width. The formation was shite and didn't suit the players. The formation completely nullified our 2 best outlets in dabo and Giles.

I dont know why its so hard to accept he got it wrong last night.
