Have you traced the owner? They will be devastated.

Didn't realise he was that old. Great cameo in Gavin and Stacey too.

Terry Griffiths.

Snooker was such a massive sport when I was growing up in the 80’s and he always came across as a very likeable chap and obviously a very good player.

R.I.P. Similar to other high profile sports, the contemporary players seem to character and connection with the people who watch it

Samantha Lawrence, one half of the sibling hip hop duo Wee Papa Girl Rappers, 55.
Sad. I haven’t thought about that group for god knows how long and don’t remember being a big fan or anything…but immediately recalled Wee Rule lyrics in their entirety.
RIP.

I’m going to shock you all now.

Never heard of them, or the ”song”.

Just YouTubed it, not surprised I don’t remember them or it.

Sad to go at such a young age though. RIP.

I was wondering how I knew it so well and think it must’ve been on. ‘Now…’ tape from my youth.

Oh no! That is dreadfully sad news. A broadcasting legend and wonderful person. He didn't sound well when he "signed off" from his radio show just a few weeks ago.
It is sad news.
The older I've been getting (roughly ever since the time of my birth) I've been warming to these pioneers of radio 'jocking'.
Along with JW, Blackburn and Bob Harris present some really good shows - A perfect antidote to my sometimes parochial music tastes.
And he hated the Bay City Rollers.
RIP, Johnnie.

Fitting really that the news was broken by his good friend and colleague Harris.

I recall an apprentice (Herbert's Edgwick) friend of mine talking about him back then in the early seventies. Geoff was the local copper in Holbeach , and my mate lived in the next village, Pinchbeck.
He seemed to rate him as a decent, fair, PC - which probably means he'd normally only clout you if you actually asked for it.
I was a Herberts apprentice at edgwick early 70’s (70-74)
