It was a good job he was 'forgotten' and not the other two. That would have been a tricky debrief after splashdown.

We were on our honeymoon at the time, in Menorca, ironically staying in the former country home of RN Admiral Collingwood (now Hotel del Almirante) and with a view across the bay to Admiral Nelson's house.
There was quite a bit of hostility from some of the locals towards us Brits!

The Atlantic Conveyor was hit on the same day. Captain Ian North was the hero merchant captain who came out of retirement to captain his old ship that had been requisitioned by the MOD. Refused to leave the ship while people and equipment were still being taken off and went down with the ship. A hero amongst heroes. Must be worth a mention too.

Imagine how great he'd have been if he'd bothered using a defence?!
Loved watching him box, a proper maverick.

Not someone that a lot of you will have heard of, but BJ Thomas, who had a huge hit in 1969 with "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" (from the film Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid), has died from cancer aged 71.

Or if he could have kept away from women and booze. Was never fully focused but was an excellent boxer. Colourful character and life needs those

They reckoned the only fight he knuckled down for was when he beat Duran, imagine what he could have achieved with more focus?
That win should have been his golden ticket.

Saw on CovLive the other day that the Cov legend Tony Britten had sadly passed away.

Used to love going in his sports shop on Walsgrave road opposite The Old Ball.

Suicide. Not a virus (fittingly)….

John McAfee: Anti-virus creator found dead in prison cell

The software mogul is found dead hours after a Spanish court allowed his extradition to the US on tax charges.
