It sort of makes sense not to move in the window if what money you have is limited. Finding the best FA signings out there or letting a contracted player know you have a deal for them if they were a free agents, is being creative. We have done it before and im sure it will be done again.

Free agents will now be actively looking to get back in and settled at clubs. And i see MR using this option, i cant honestly see MR not having things lined up. He was probably told the situation and picked this options as the best path to go down.

As for the owners, god, they do know how to piss on a parade, don't they. Every chance they have to get it right they balls it up with false promises, false dawns and lies. Fans will not forgive them for the horse shit they spread. They will say but the big 3..... but in reality we all know fate has played a bigger part in this, than them in keeping the 3 together. Its time they understood the excuses are wearing thin, the blame game is fading fast and the false promises are all being exposed.

Fans will back the players and manager to the moon a back, because they have shown passion and commitment to the club. In my opinion the owners have shown nothing but contempt and disrespect to the fans and club, which is something that has always been there. Its a shame we are now limited by those who helped us gain this momentum, it's a shame they have nothing more to give, but just to ask us to give for them to pick the limit we can enjoy and what they take take. Lets hope MR did have a plan and free agency was part of it. Time will tell, long way to go but we are a long way behind..

Well, amazed we ended up with the other major players still here. Let's hope they're here by choice, and don't lose motivation.

A bit concerned about the lack of centre backs mind you. We're too close to Dabo playing there. Next season will be an entirely new centre back line, you feel...

You do indeed, though I think Rose would stay. I suspect the team in general will have a very different look.

He's out of contract though, and past rumours etc suggests he'll be off to pastures new.

He's probably the big winner of this close season, mind you!

Agreed. If anyone had offered me that at the start of the window I’d have taken it. If someone had come in with a big offer for a player which allowed reinvestment great but from early on many were saying one of the big three was going and nothing to be reinvested apart from wages.

We didn’t just take it the first offer that came along for top players, that cost us with the ohare injury but ultimately is a positive.

Hopefully there’s an out of contract CB available. I mentioned previously that Alfie Mawson was out of contract for most of the summer, unsure of his fitness, but they are there.

Hopefully everyone can get back to focussing on supporting what we do have. If injuries are kind and players get back up to last seasons level it’s a decent squad

The problem is, players out of contract who haven't yet been picked up, tend to have a reason for that.

Moussa's the only one I can think of who's paid off for us, and we certainly got the best of his career!

Yeah, we've had some shockers. No preseason or games, they would need 6-8 weeks to be anywhere near ready to play in the first team.

Helik is a good signing for Huddersfield. Similarly Wright seems a smart signing at Blackpool (who obviously sold Bowler).

Whole range of reasons from injuries to unrealistic wages to maybe holding on for someone who didn’t come in for them. I agree that if anyone is signed they’re likely to take some time to get up to speed though. Panzo and Doyle were brought in so you’d hope will step up. I thought Doyle looked good on Wednesday and Panzo in the first game and this seasons Bidwell is better defensively than Maatsen

As said previously, defensive units take time especially with young kids that haven’t played together before and need a confident keeper behind so hoping Moore gets back to his best !

Guys you all keep banging on about keeping the big 3. We only kept the big three because o hare got injured which means we didn't get the financial boost required and we don't have him til November. No one wanted Hamer. Gyokeres is the best keep in the situation.

We now need to focus on results because the season is not lost yet but no win in the next 3 and it gets very scary

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that in order to increase the value of the three above mentioned, along with one or two others of the playing squad that we pushed the budget to its ceiling. I guess city were expecting another club to come in for one of them and match their evaluation which never happened or came close to what we wanted + funds up front to re-invest.

Has it back fired? At the time it seems the right thing to do and i'd have muttered to myself if we hadn't, so we did the right thing.

What we hoped to do was off load the likes of walker, kane and waghorn who are on reported good salaries. Never happened which has left us waiting till their contracts run out at the end of the season (?) and left us with a problem that we may not get enough out of them to contribute this season of a small squad. (Unless we off load in January which i doubt)

The core problem is the recruitment has to be spot on with the small budget available and we cant afford any slip ups. All clubs make mistakes but we can't afford to to make MANY mistakes.

This is going to be a tough season to stay out the bottom three and i do wonder if Robins patience will snap after a couple of bad defeats.

We also need Kelly and o'hare fit ASAP to see us through this.

That said, i personally don't see this team being a relegation threatened team over a full season myself.

Also you would think they would already be training with us and being assessed. I would rather not take the punt especially at this level.

Too many fans are panicking already after a disapointing start. I always thought it would be a tough season but I actually think the squad is about the same strength as last year .

However I have always advocated doing your business in the summer not January. I would of liked to have seen two strong signings aged 26-29 to take over from McFadzean and Kelly. Cornerstones to build around for next 3 years.

But the budget is almost non existent due to owners stance. Lets hope some of the youngsters can kick on and take their opportunities. I think they need to be judged over the season rather than a few games.

There is no reason Gyokores, Godden and Waghorn cant improve on last year for different reasons. Palmer looks a better option than the never present party head that couldnt make the training ground let alone the team.
Panzo and Doyle look promising. Bidwell already looks better than last year. If Kane gets his head down and proves a point, even if just to get in the shop window. Eccles and Tavares can contributr if handled right. Hamer and Sheaf still have the potential to improve.
Hopefully Moore can get his confidence back and in the past we have had worse than Wilson.

The biggest problem is football depends on confidence as much as ability. We need to start picking up some points even if just a sequence of draws to begin with to stabilise the ship.

The season is young, especially for us. The stop start beginning has been a real hinderance. Training doesn't replicate competitive football, the challenge of different opponents and tactics every week. Once we get match sharp and get the rhythm from a proper sequence of games things can improve., Even if that transition is gradual, we can survive.

Personally think the plan was O'Hare out with small re-investment and the rest "banked". O'Hare then gets injured and we have to find someone else to sell - Hyam. Due to his lower sale value, all his fee gets banked and no small re-investment as such.

We're in a tricky position now defensively and so signings such as Panzo and Doyle (signs are promising) need to shine. And Rose needs to seriously step up.

You get a like for glass half full! I am concerned about central defence. Hyam going was fine if a decent replacement came in, but it has shades of Davenport's sale in a way, and then we relied on inexperienced CBs who went on to have a half decent career, but were erratic at best for us as they gained experience. Am hoping Doyle's pedigree at least means his season at Sunderland has ironed a lot of those inconsistencies out.

I agree, btw, about do your business in the summer. It's why I wasn't overly concerned that we only signed Bidwell in January, as we'd recruited fairly heavily beforehand, so I could accept that. You're also right about being judged over the season, people have already decided Eccles is rubbish, and have forgotten in his cameos last year he looked good. And, of course, he's probably a prime example of how confidence can affect...

Anyway, if Reid turns down a loan, let's hope that's because he has confidence in his ability, and let's hope that his confidence is not misplaced. Would rather try him than Dabo at CB if needed, he can't do any worse!

Would think he would be left sided which is where we have the most cover with Panzo, Doyle and then even Bidwell did a decent job.

Winner: Michael Rose
Blah blah blah
Duh duh duh duh
Moron moron moron

Loser: Mark Robins
Lost the fans
Lost the changing room
Lost the job

Loser: the fans
Have to watch Waghorn week in week out
Get abused by the manager
Have to watch Dycheball from now

I don’t think we’d want to extend Rose based on form over last two years. We should be aiming higher than that.

Long time observer first time poster.

I just wanted to say I am baffled at the negativity. Surely the main objective this summer was to keep the big 3 which we have.

We have lost Maatsen, Jcs and Hyam from last years struggling defence and replaced them with Tayo, Panzo and Doyle plus the addition of Palmer. At the start of the window we would have been delighted with that.

Get behind the boys and let’s get up the table. PUSB

Didn’t actually realise until just now that we’re the only club in the league not to part with a transfer fee this season.

Turns out the model was made of Lego and smashed into a thousand pieces as Asian as some pressure was applied.
