http://www.skysports.com/football/player/0,19754,1007,00.html Thanks David you did your job and put us in great postion. Just like me if someone comes along and offer promotion (play in the Championship in Goldies case), higher wages I'd be off. Footballers are no different to any of us. He has re written the history books at CCFC, and I for one am glad we had him, even if it was only for 6 months.

Am i missing something here? Hes gone there on loan with a view to a perm move, which im assuming will be a free transfer because he will be out of contract? Or would there be an agreement in place now to say that they will pay x amount if he goes there perm?

Seems a bit of a kick in the teeth considering we could have done the same for him.

im probably missing somethign obvious here. Either way, good luck to him, thanks for the goals...and let hope he left his shooting boots for Clarke!

Seem obvious that he is waiting for us to be promoted back to the Championship before joining us for free in the summer.............................ok so I'm deluded but watching City for many years has made me this way....

Ay? I assume CM87 is me? I ask because your post makes no sense at all. Where exactly am I either 'swearing at' or 'slagging off' any of our fans? did you even read my post?

I said I feel bad for our fans who believed he may stay! hows that doing either swearing at them or slagging them off?! I genuinely feel bad for them because if they thought he may be staying im assuming this wont have been the first time they have been let down, and that it wont be the last.

I also wished him good luck, and dont begrudge him going out to earn more money. Im sure its also a situation where he cant be completely transparent, but it would just be better all round if when interviewed, a footballer could say something more along the lines of 'ive enjoyed my time here, the club have been great for me, its worked out well for both me and the club, and now im going to take one of the bigger opportunities ive earnt' id have no problem with that.....but understand why he cant be that transparent.

Well, you said "hopefully this will teach some fans"! Teach them what?

Yep I thought that was strange. Robins tackled it head on though which was refreshing. Saying he wanted him to go out with a bang and Elliott had every right to feel aggrieved! Fair plsy

Yes it is compared to us. I was waiting for someone to say this. They have much more chance of competing in the championship than us.

Elliot could hardly walk after 60 mins at MK though, so although he undoubtably wanted to play v Shrews, Robins was always going to play his strongest striker, which was DMC. Clarke hadn't played a first team in a few weeks either.

if cody and rod go and we get BWP i think thats fantastic

clarke is one of the current top scorers
BWP was last years top scorer
and elliots done ok when asked, especially under robins

3 strikers for 1 starting spot should be fine

Err the bottom half of the Championship is hardly ambitious is it? I bet he doesn't fit there. He has the adoration of our fans and is banging the goals in. As Baker said, the grass isn't always greener...

Not sure if this has already been mentioned but Ipswich already have 6 or 7 decent quality strikers (Chopra, Emmanuel-Thomas, Taylor, McLean, Scotland, Murphy + possibly DJ Campbell to come back) - is McGoldrick likely to be starting games there? Sounds like it could be very similar to his time at Forest, getting 20 minutes here and there, especially if he doesn't start scoring goals immediately.

Perhaps if his loan spell doesn't go well, we could snap him up on a free in the Summer if Ipswich decide they don't want him...

I hope he is llike 7th choice, and we get promoted with Clarke topping the goal scoring tables, so he regrets not signing for CCFC.

Hopefully he doesn't do well and maybe we could sign him after his loan spell maybe?

Exactly, they already have decent strikers so will he be getting much game time?

We will soon find out about his level and his ability against the players they already have.. I m still not 100% he can make it as a striker in the championship but wish him well and don't blame him for making the move. If he came back as a player with us or playing for someone else i would not give the lad any stick done well for us....

Exactly what I worry for him there, even when he gets a chance he will probably have to adapt his play style to what ever way Ipswich play for the man he is replacing

It won't be like here where the team is set up for him to score and everyone knows his movement and how he likes to be given the ball etc.

They probably offered NFFC and McG the best we could offer, being in L1 with the burden of high rent means it was always going to be an upwards struggle.

Maybe Fisher let ITFC get McG in exchange for details of how little rent they paid to their council

So, doesn't mean we can't buy any players, we've resigned/signed 3 players already.

The money is holed up somewhere I bet.

Being able to 'rub it in someone's face' in football is a good feeling.

He's probably shot his career in the foot - again!

I don't blame David McG, this was all about significantly higher wages and Nottingham Forests demands. Ipswich are no bigger club than Coventry City and he will be faced with long tedious journeys or uprooting his family as well. I wish him well but he could now find himself down the pecking order and actually not getting as good service. Good move from Robins though in bringing in Clarke as he obviously knew more than he was letting on.
PUSB, Onwards and upwards !!

Oh well, we all knew he was off.

Time to show that we're a team, not one player.

Not for long. McCarthy is a rubbish manager. We'll wave at each other while we pass. Us up. Them down.

Good luck to him though, pity we couldn't get him. "Go Leon" is what I say.

Teach them that in a very high majority of the cases, if a player has a chance to choose a team higher then us, or earn more money, he will take it and wave us goodbye. Im not saying it in some aggressive 'well that'll teach you' manner you know!

Alot of fans from what they are posting or what ive heard seem a bit gutted by this, even up until today. I remember accepting he was going after the loan after I watched him score the goal against Leyton Orient, some time in October. So it doesnt hurt as much, what with expecting it and all.

For starters, I said "probably".

I guess there would've been Saints fans, who at the time of his move to NFFC, said what you have just said.

McG has done well for himself at CCFC, but the team was built around him, or developed around him (either way), he isn't going to get that at ITFC, he might have to find himself coming off the bench to earn a starting place, or might be an unused sub quite often.

Thing is, he had to go to Ipswich, I hate Ipswich, them, the Welsh CCFC, Leicester, Villa I cannot stand! Hate them.

Absolute bollocks. Were a third division club. There is no way we can afford ten grand a week. Ever heard of financial fair play?
