Hi I wonder if you could help me, I spoke to my old man and he said that he was interviewed post game on the Radio

What did he say ? does he wanna stay at Cov ? Sorry if this buried in some other thread

I heard it. Think he said his agent is dealing with it all. The better interview was Baker who said that he'd talked with McGoldrick this week about it all and that McGoldrick said he was loving it here but again that his agent is dealing with it. Baker also said that he'd given some friendly advice about "the grass isn't always greener"! Go on Baker!

The jist was very much 'Oh it's not up to me, it's up to my agent and the club'. The interviewer did push him for an answer to be fair!

Thanks, well i suppose at least he did not want to leave ? I really hope heart rules his head just for the rest of this season ! Again if NF want him back we may well be screwed anyway

If they are in talks as we are lead to believe, then surely they don't want him. If they don't want him now, after the form he's shown, they'll never want him.

Maybe I am reading to much into it but he did say he had set himself a goal target for the end of the season. Didn't really say who he was going to be scoring the goals for but maybe it was implied it would be here?

I hope it is with us, money always talks though especially when it comes to bastard agents.

and who is the agent, and would F or W act in an agent capacity in any deal,
see the mcsheff = b/ham deal for a shining example

I have always rated CB as a player (see my previous posts) but since he has become captain he has become an even better player. The fact that he has been talking to DM about the situation makes him a brilliant captain in my eyes. Well done MR for making this appointment.

I think we might sign McG, I hope the 'grass isn't always greener' message gets to him.

When it comes to him signing for a new club, if it's for football reasons: he comes to CCFC, if isn't, he leaves. He is loved here, fans adore him, system suits him, he likes Robins' way of doing things etc., the players most likely adore him, he alone could send us flying up the table, IMO, the next 5 games (next 4 teams are above us) determine whether he stays or not because if we win 5 games, we're in the playoffs on the up, we could be well on course to promotion.

Obviously we can't offer the same as the Championship teams, but we can negotiate just as attractive deal, with bonuses', release clause for failure to get promoted, agent fee. I'm optimistic :D

If a ridiculous offer comes in he will go but if its not ground breaking I think he's he sort of lad to wanna succeed and do well I think we have a chance for sure

I think SBT (forum SBT) should throw a party if he signs though :)

... And McG to be made a saint.

Why is it with his agent? Surely he makes the decision then the agent informs both clubs? This isn't good news...agents are money grabbing sh*tes. Unfortunately, there's not much money to be grabbed at CCFC. Unfortunately for us, I think Mr McG will go the same way as King, Gunnar, Turner, Westwood etc.

I'd be delighted to see him stay, just can't see it. If we do, fair play to the owners. That'll go someway to salvaging an ounce of respect from us disgruntled fans...

Tbf, McGoldrick already has one 'big' move under his career and it didnt work out! £1m for a player like he was is quite a big figure and there was alot of pressure on him so hopefully hes fully aware of the 'grass not being greener'

Also, he does kinda owe us one ;)

so did marlon king !!

I knew someone was owing to say that. Slightly different circumstances, the key one being age, MK is old, has/had better chance of promotion with Brum than us, and it's turned out to be the right move for him. McG, it's a safe bet coming here, and is risking it all if he goes to, say Leeds. He has the years to build rep for himself at CCFC, and if he fires us up to the Championship, and does well there, a lower league prem club could be sniffing around for him. Age is a decisive factor.

He will get better offers from other clubs than what we can give him, so our only chance is DMG picks us for footballing reasons.
If he is just leaving it to his agent, then he will be off, I fear.

It can go both ways from what he said.

He could be wanting to go elsewhere. No trust on SISU. Won't eant to upset everyone by saying he will be off. He might want to stay, but if he says so SISU would offer him less.

it was,

he picked up a fair wack of cash for several months and was then loaned to sheff wed, then to cov, where he put himself in the shop window by becoming league one top scorer, despite starting less games than the rest of that list.

Money talks, and we dont have any.

If he stays with us, he might be the top scorer in League One, at a team in financial turmoil, and who will struggle to make the play offs, let alone win promotion.

Or, he can go to Leeds, where, even if he doesnt play, he will get 2 times the wage

True, we can't compete money wise... But we can make an offer that can be just as attractive if we get promoted, which is likely if he stays. It could be a case of taking a hit for 6 months...

Cov are 15/1 to be promoted

How is that "looking likely" ?

And, why should he "take a hit" for 6 months ?

I'd love to be wrong, but this is going exactly the same way as Westwood, King etc al...

No one is saying he must take a hit, I said he could, if he did, we get promoted, he gets the same wages as he would at another champ team.

15/1? Definitely putting a cheeky 5a on that! We got the quality, and strength in depth to go all the way. Bailey, important but CT4 may be able to replace him. If we fail to sign McG, his successor needs to step up, whether it's Cody, or someone in CCFC or we sign a player, I don't know.

I don't think he'll start at the likes of Leeds and other teams he's linked with... That also could work in our favour. We also have to see if any bids will be made... January will be tense!!!

thats the bit for me pal..

If you spoke to Westwood now and said, where would you rather be, playing for Cov every week, or at Sunderland on the bench ?, I pretty sure we all know what he would say

We have a large squad but beyond the first 11, there isn't a lot of strength in depth, we struggled against morecome without both mcgoldrick and bailey and that's before you factor in Adams, that's 3 of our first 11 who may not be here in 3 weeks time.
