Feels slightly unfair given a) we had no control over the Rugby being played there, b) we didn't own the pitch, and c) the Rugby tournament was played over the weekend that the Championship season started. Didn't leave much time to react to an issue on a pitch you didn't own.
What when the club were completely not at fault and were unable to play home matches due to the actions of our former slum landlords?

Dave held them to account for it and called them out

You could see clips from the Rugby World Cup which showed that the pitch was totally fucked. People were sharing them on here.

For whatever reason the club didn't do any due diligence and then played the surprised card when we were about to play a match and it then got called off for being unsafe.

I'm more than happy to have a pop at Wasps given any opportunity, but it was very sloppy from the club and indeed Boddy to get caught out. On this occasion I don't see it as him calling them out whatsoever. It's embarrasing that posters on SBT were more observant as to what was going on and the whole thing was a joke.

The club were locked out of the stadium until it was out of commonwealth games’ control

What did you actually want him to do?

Everyone knew from that point Wasps were done and it was a matter of time before they were gone

What did I want him to do?
Well he could have started by calling the game off far earlier than he did, saving people a lot of inconvenience. It clearly was nowhere near fit for purpose.

Met him outside the ground at Wolverhampton. Singing all the songs with the fans.

A really decent bloke. Like others in the past decade, fell in love with the club.

He issued a statement on behalf of SISU saying that the club had been let down, etc.
Wasps came back saying that they were disappointed with the statement as CCFC had been aware of the risk and had agreed to the work that had been done to prepare the pitch for the sevens.
He then didn't say anything more on the subject.

And the club did know about the risk. I'd heard about it at the start of July that year. My brother-in-law knew one of the groundsman and had been told about it by him.

I think that's why we got the suspend points deduction. We (SISU) weren't the innocent and injured party that we pretended to be.

Met him on several occasions and was perfectly pleasant and as honest as he could be. Even on occasion, I felt that he disagreed with a lot of Sisu’s actions but as they paid his wages he was stuck in the middle.

Boddy was approachable and human, compared to others (Fisher)

Not sure why we're going over this again but didn't the club have assurances from Wasps that the pitch was being relaid following the commonwealth games. That being the case why would he be bothered what state it looked in during the games?

Even if that were true, it has no bearing on this. Wasps could never be trusted and an astute person at the helm would know that. In fact, arguably even more reason to keep an eye on things.

Hypothetically, if Doug was running things in the same capacity at that time, there is no way that this would have happened.

Because there had been on going issues with the pitch being used for both sports, (Not to mention the on going issues between both clubs).

With our season starting a week after an intense summer tournament he should have been watching what went on like a hawk.

Too take wasps at their word was naive in the extreme, to wait until the eve of the game to call it off was negligent.

I think we are a bit spoilt lately - the club seems more professional than I’ve ever known right now.

Let’s cast our minds back.

Orange Ken and Onye (clueless)
Fisher (patronising)
McGinnity (sacking Eric Black)
Fletcher (nice bloke but no chance)
Robinson (probably had funds / ability to raise funds to buy the Higgs share but didn’t. Look what happened)

Dave Boddy? Compared to above I think he did well.

Wish him well.

Don't forget Ray Ranson, SISU's puppet, the gambler with no control of funding.

On the several occasions I met him I found him approachable and sincere and with CCFC best interests at heart.
Severely constrained by SISU, of course.
Fisher .. the opposite. !!

I know a guy who played for Worcester when Boddy was involved with them. He said he was a decent enough bloke but always felt Cov was too big for him.
