He is very important because there isn't an alternative who can currently get to his standard

He’s always been one of our best players on the ball and the criticism he got was mostly because he was short and people couldn’t see past that. The ludicrous “targeting Dasilva” stuff for example. Glad it’s stopped and the meme is in the other direction now.

The system has massively helped Dasilva's defending. We defend much narrower now so the balls between him and Kitch don't happen now as the space is gone. His one on one defending is fine as his feet are quick and he can often get a toe in.
On the other side of it, it has killed Bidders as he defends better when he can get tight to a player and is excellent at stopping wingers turning. Once they have turned and are running into space he finds it a lot harder.

Last season didn’t we defend very narrow and aim to defend the box too?

Yep we’re just better all 4 have improved and we have an excellent keeper

Teams do still try that long ball over to his side to be clear, but he’s being supported much more effectively. He’s perfected the art of standing players up then nicking the ball off them, did it very well Saturday too.

Only after Lampard came in really
