Another superb refereeing performance from him again.

Just like Notts County away in the play offs he got the key decisions right.

He did actually get the 3 main decisions correct .
But his performance inbetween was a bit dodgy I will admit

Was the delay in giving the penalty down to checking with the linesman?

He looked like he wasn't going to give it and it seemed to take a second or two before then committing.

It was weird, he looked away and paused then turned back round

Might have been listening to his headset

I remember Collina getting cheers by England fans when he was announced v Croatia at Euro 2004 - he was our ref from previous big games and results. Hopefully the start of something similar and nice to have one in our favour for a change cause I'm sure most refs hate us!

Just seen it, he’s definitely not given it, must be the linesman, looked a foul, blokes made a silly slide and not got anywhere near the ball.

Funniest thread ever!

I was trying to explain to the Mrs how lucky we were today.

Could have said it one word word. Referee!

Loved it when one of their players disagreed with one of his decisions.

His reaction was to blow the whistle as loud as possible in the players ear and frightening the life out of him

Classic
That got mentioned on the radio. Sounded funny. Did their player jump?

On the highlights he can be seen talking into his mouth piece so I would say he had a quick consultation then gave it.

Think he was listening to CWR, Eakin thought it was a penalty, So he changed his mind and gave it.

Thanks Clive

He wouldn’t be checking with the assistant referee as he was on the far side of it. No way it would be a credible decision if that was the case.

The problem we have these days that every one wants an instant decision. What the referee done Saturday was give himself a bit of thinking time. And come up with the right decision. Just because he turned away from play was insignificant, He got it spot on.

Refereed the game very well. Hope we have again this season

What I don't get is the game was still active when he turned away wasn't it?

Good point Nick

But it's irrelevant. most refereeing decisions the ball is still in play.

I was taught as trainee referee many years ago give yourself a bit of thinking time before you make a vital decision. And that was exactly what he done Saturday.

Fair play to him
