Dale Evans .......

[ajsccfc]

I don't remember Pete Waterman trying to buy the club at all, nor that crowdfunding thing, were they big news and I've just become numb to it? I distinctly remember hearing the Manhattan thing had fallen through on whatever day it was in 2007 and thinking we were absolutely fucked.

[dongonzalos]

No, we have seen my 8 year old daughter could name more things that happen during our games than you. Which is strange when you want to try and preach about talking about certain things online.

If it’s a game she has gone to whilst I am at work. I would hope she can.
Let’s just see when we sign that striker in January and he bangs the goals in.
You come out with some crap that the team has become more creative and the likes of McNulty would have done the same given the same chances.

[Paxman II]

Cliff notes for those who can't be arsed reading the first 28 pages:

1. Some guy called Dale says he wants to buy the club

2. Many disbelieve and try to discredit him whilst others say he’s genuine

3. Some knobheads have had a pop at the blokes family

4. Lots of people suggesting they don’t believe it, but hope it’s true
5. Dale advises he's now part of the consortium as he can't quite afford it on his own
6. More people convinced it's bullsh*t

7. Gary Hoffman confirms he’s seen the funds

8. A little backtracking mixed with some scepticism and cynicism

9. Nick is doing his best to keep 20 arguments open with different posters all at the same time

That saved me a lot of time!
No7 was new to me so clearly I must have given up around page 16.

I did say earlier if this guy was genuinely wishing to buy the club I suspected he may be part of a wider consortia, with the obvious choice being Hoffman and his cronies who had previously some half arsed attempts at deal making the buy the club with the obvious conclusion he lacked cash funds to peak SISU's interest.
So one can leap to the assumption (if any of this is to be believed at the moment) he now has someone who would provide those extra cash funds that will tip negotiations to buy the club from SISU a real possibility.
So think back to Hoffman's last proposals and apply Mr Dales funding to it which will change a lot of the unacceptable areas of Hoffman's proposal last time perhaps a more palatable one for SISU now...depending on how far Hoffman applies it of course.
You will recall Hoffman had previously said WASP were willing to deal with him when SISU had gone.

All this is just pure conjecture on my part as the only way I see any probable truth in any of this.

Can you link me to where I've said the team is more creative? Have never said that.

[oucho]

To all those who are criticising the majority of fans( in effect for pouring cold water on this, as they see it).... nobody wants SISU to stay, but after so many let-downs it is a case of "believe it when you see it". I'm not saying DE/GH are definitely never going to look like serious prospects for being our new owners, it's just that they sure as hell don't right now. Until that changes, I won't believe any of this.

Who was it that said "when the facts change, I change my mind." For now, there are no facts and thus the default setting has to be complete scepticism but with optimism that this impression may be proven wrong.

Agree with All if this except. Hoffman for the first time has said wait till the legal action is over.
My guess is he knows that is when SISU no longer need the club and he will go for the club and form some kind of partnership with Wasps.

Playing Devils Avocado:

Wouldn’t the stadium deal we end up with depend heavily on which division we are in?

With that in mind, wouldn’t it be prudent to keep all options open until we are closer to the end of the season and have a better idea of whether we are likely to need a 15k L1 Promotion-bounce-Party stadium or a 3k Conference SHFWF park bench?

You haven’t you will after January, when we start scoring goals with a new striker.

Yet you wouldn't be able to tell me about any of them?

Happy to discuss that on the other thread, you stopped replying when I used screen shots and facts.

Even a decent striker converts only one in six chances ours get six chances a month you simpleton.

and now an article where Gilbert is highlighting the reasons someone should buy Coventry.

This one a blank page?

The stadium size we need will be dependant on the owners we have.
If SISU do intend to be here for another 5-10 years. 10k would be enough.
If they intend to move on, then it is likely that it needs to be the Ricoh

Why would the chap from Stratford be a crony of Hoffman's? Crony is a disparaging term. I can understand why some people would have a go at Hoffman due to his previous connections, although I wouldn't agree with them. The guy from Stratford is sponsoring the academy, (surely a good thing) and has season tickets along with his sons. Why would he now be given an abusive term?
Sisu in my eyes and in the eyes of most City fans are the worst owners we have had or are likely to have. Hoffman, a genuine supporter, seen at home and away games wants to take over the club. The sooner the better as far as I am concerned. At least he and his cronies will have the best interests of our club at heart.

I'm not sure why the Stratford guy would warrant abuse. I wouldn't agree with actual abuse of Dale either.

I'll put my neck on the line here... This is all bullshit.

I'm willing to go into a £10 charity bet with anyone on the following: Dale Evans will not buy CCFC from SISU.

Disclaimer: This is not because I love SISU. This is because I think this guy is a fame hungry show off with about as much common (and business) sense as a corner flag. What makes it twice as annoying is him going onto the Facebook page and getting some poor people's hopes up. I believe he has some money, but he is also a show off with what he's got, and that amount is also probably greatly exaggerated. He's simply got warped in lies as a result of it.

I think you’re vastly overestimating the number of fans who will return and what would make them.

If we get success, crowds will follow. That’s the only real correlation. Sisu leaving might give us a one or two game bump but beyond that I’d be surprised if it added more than a thousand over whatever it would be otherwise.

[ajsccfc]

When was the waterman one?

2013 apparently - Record producer Pete failed in bid to take over Sky Blues

Going by that he only mentioned it after nothing had come of it, so that makes sense that it's not memorable.

Yup.

And of course you could also fairly argue that owners more concerned with managing the football club as a football club would be more likely to produce success, so boosting crowds.

But ultimately, if (if!) we won promotion this seasn gates would go up. If we're rubbish (again!) they'll go down.

The reason gates go down is indeed down to SISU, but because we're rubbish under them!

Remember something about Waterman being interested. He made his career at the beginning through Cov. Remember him at the Locarno and other venues DJing. I remember him helping Nello out when he changed his restaurant upstairs into a disco/ bistro. He apparently started work at British Rail in Cov. There was an article about his cv when this story was about.

He’s a Walsall fan

He’s a Walsall fan

Picture of him with city scarf in link 4 posts up. As he said, it was because Cov is the City he comes from - he didn’t claim to be a super fan of Cov.

Says he was brought up near Highfield Road, anyone know which street out of interest?

That's likely another year as a minumum then.

[Corrado]

Jeez have we got to endure another year of this bickering back and forth between Nick and a selected few then. Got to say it seems to ruin pretty much every thread now.

[martcov]

That's likely another year as a minumum then.

Yes, Hoffman said he is doing nothing until the legals are over. He is head of a major company, has been head of major companies before, knows SISU through being on the board, knows all about CCFC problems, is a city fan, and is therefore the best option we have. If he says wait, then I accept that that is the right thing to do. Even if Dale has come into some money, he obviously has no idea of how to deal with SISU. What is surprising is that he is showing his hand before the game is really under way. I would have thought that he would have kept his finances to himself before talking publically. Seems contrary to poker playing, unless of course it is a huge bluff. But what would he gain if they fell for the bluff? He would still have to come up with real money at the end of the day. Very strange.

Well quite. I mean I hate Sisu and I want them gone because they’re arseholes. But the main reason is I have no faith in them producing a successful club.

Seen something on TV with him some time ago and seem to remember him saying it was Stoke or one of the Stokes. He was talking about his love of trains and how it started as a young lad watching trains go by from his bedroom as his house backed onto the railway.

[Cav_PUSB]

They didn't say the club wasn't for sale which I suppose is a bonus.
