Recruitment.

We've either got a bottom 4 budget or we haven't.

If we haven't, we have totally buggered up on signings in the summer.

Yes, that is true ( re signings). Good intent, but didn't work out.

In addition to missing the wanted signings and having to make do with what we were left to choose out of and/ or trying to hold something back in the kitty for January, the club is in disarray from top to bottom.

I was at MK last week ( don't get over to Cov much ), and the thing that struck me most was a comparison between MK ( same opposition) away a couple of years ago under Robbins. I don't mean the quality, but the fight, passion, will to win or whatever you want to call it. Espirit de corps I think they used to call it.

There was no comparison.

I never thought that we would win convincingly this time, even in the first half when we did dominate a bit. At MK then we were losing and then won in an exciting game where City were fighting to win.

There is no leadership and it shows from the top to the people on the desk who couldn't find my tickets ( put aside for me and not the staff's fault ), and the lack of reply to an email which has been forwarded internally twice by CCFC staff.

If the the back room staff are not motivated, then how can we expect the people in the limelight to react?

People believed in Jimmy Hill, from the people pushing the Sky Blue Pool by selling to their work mates, right on to the players on the pitch.

There was an aim. The aim was to win and get promoted. It was shared from the chairman to the tea lady. They all wanted success.

That is what we don't have, the unified will to win and get promoted - in addition to mega funding of course.

Survival and break even seems to be the aim. Neither of which are possible under the present structure.

Bloke saying about Fisher facing the music, hasn't he offered and been turned by the trust for a fans forum?

Like or not any answers he gives. Get him in front of the fans and grill him.

You keep saying this, but remember every fucking meeting with club big wigs ever? Remember how we came out with even fewer answers than we went in with?

You can't force someone to answer a question honestly.

Of course, that's why I said like or not. It was in reply to somebody wanting to get answers from him.

If in doubt, just resort to the questions like "who would win in a fight" and "would you wank your dad off to save your mum's life".

It would be interesting to know ho we ended up with Armstrong, Murphy and Kent last season. They're looking like the exception, wonder how involved Mowbray and Venus were or if the parent clubs pretty much put them on a plate for us?

Of course they have to shoulder the blame.........almost all but the latest clown got the sack or walked away from a thankless task ! As someone else said though 'Those deck chairs have been re arranged and dispensed with but the ship is still going down nonetheless'....Who has the rudder ?

True, we "didn't want it", but the vast majority of those players shouldn't be in our first eleven. If TM/MV had done their homework properly in the summer then I doubt we would be in such a shitty position. They had the budget and they pissed it away in a panic.
Did they ? or did they only receive that said budget when their first choice targets were all snapped up.....because that was what was implied in managers comments. Thing is we never get to know because everyone leaves under a veil of secrecy for a few extra quid in their severance !

I do agree with you to a point but we don't know enough about the process or the timing of the release of funds. We were still putting the team together AGAIN two months into the season.

There isn't a huge amount of point in getting any executive into a meeting and firing questions - as The Rock would say, it doesn't matter what comes out of their mouths because the only way to judge success or not is by looking at what's going on. Tim or anyone else can hint at plans and stress their good intentions and share frustrations over things that they wanted to go differently, I'll give then the benefit of the doubt on all of that but this is a results business and it has to come right on the pitch (and off it, in our case) for us all to be reassured.

I can't think of anything that he could say at a forum or on CWR that would reassure me, but if he goes out and appoints Mark Robins then we go 5 games unbeaten then I'll be reassured. Seeing is believing, everything else is just well-meaning words.

Venus should listen to the fans, nearly all of us don't want him as manager, he should do the correct and only decision and resign but perhaps he does not know how to do that either . Also it is no good getting Fisher to talk to the fans he just does not give us the correct information anyway so no point.

What's all this "given the lack of funds" bullshit about?

It just shows if people say anything enough times it starts to stick. We have a top half budget (minimum) and there is still some of that left to spend in January. Especially when we bin off all of the loans and the fact we should have rickets salary on top.

I think it would be a very appealing place to come and be a manager. A decent youth setup, a relatively sizable fan Base as soon as they get their shit together on the pitch, and you can play stupid formations over and over again your best striker on the wing, Jones in CM and Tudgay as a number 10, and STILL most of the raving lunatic fans won't think you've done anything wrong cause they're too busy pointing their pitchforks at SISU the antichrist.

If he does go (or go back 'upstairs') - who's in charge on Wednesday?
Or is it a case of, "I don't intend to be manager but I'll stay in charge while we appoint on in the next week or so"

It is not the level of investment, it is the lack of leadership and ambition. The lack of a plan or company structure. When they have had talent they have sold at the first opportunity. It has been crisis management by the owners. SISU have only achieved failure after failure....and that is just in the boardroom before you start looking at all the other area.

I agree...the level of investment isn't bad at this level. Where it is invested is an issue though. Loan players are a bad investment en-mass as we have been doing because 1. They are short term in the grand scheme of things 2. Are only fully committed up until they have security of a promised future contract/loan elsewhere in the next window...then they avoid injury so are less committed so competition for places is reduced 3. There is little chance for team cohesion to develop

Thing is who releases the funds who actually has the final say.
At a lot of clubs the manager does the business but the board have the final say before paying out.

We reached a point at the end of the summer where the needs of the squad were far greater than the budget squandered, if there is real ambition beyond L1 survival

Budgets mean nothing in comparing success, many clubs of a similar or smalller size have showed how the correct planning off the field brings the progression on it. Success is down to the individual club on what they are aspiring too, but unless we know what that is its a repeat 8 year conversation, i mean what is success at CCFC?.

We as fans are arguing about budgets but missing the point. What is Sisu's aim this season?, what do they want to gain with the club and what is the ultimate goal. We are debating about if but and maybes and until TF comes out and says we have a structure in place to invest and keep footballers to go over and above the level they are in all this debate is bollocks.

Everyone within that club should be ashamed as either they are playing along due to self preservation or thinking that what they are doing is correct. Each department needs to take responsibility, off field is a mess and that now is effecting and has been effecting on the field for a very long time.

There does not seem to be one aspect that is right, I do not see how there would be a major change with a new Manager and who would take it on anyway? Well apart from somebody desperate for a wage. Knowing it would be temporary and they would need to be looking elsewhere.

I can not help think we are nearing the end game.

Under the current regime we are just marking time at best, no hope of anything positive without major change.

The funds is a red herring. It doesn't matter if we were top of the budget league or the bottom. The club is toxic from top to bottom. The budget can't mask that for any period of time. The budget is just one ingredient in a recipe for success and unfortunately if all the other ingredients are sour this is what you get. Don't let them of the hook with talk of the budget, it's not the budget that's the issue here.

Well TM said in the past that MV found the players and TM had the final yes or no on them. As MV is effectively the board he should be doubly blamed.

Apart from 1 or 2 exceptions, football management jobs are temporary by their very nature (average tenure in the FL is about 14 months I believe), plenty of managers would jump at the chance of managing us, even with the shit going on behind the scenes.

Our problem has been poor recruitment of managers, neither Pressley nor Mowbray had any experience managing in league one and neither knew the player recruitment pool for teams in this league.
