"Cutting off the nose to spite the face" is an expression used to describe a needlessly self-destructive over-reaction to a problem: "Don't cut off your nose to spite your face" is a warning against acting out of pique, or against pursuing revenge in a way that would damage oneself more than the object of one's anger.[SUP][1][/SUP]

The weekend I've been dreading is here.

Tomorrow the long and proud history and tradition of our great club will be trashed by a bunch of faceless, secretive Hedge Fund Investors headed by a woman who according to The Sunday Times is known in the Industry as 'The Queen of Debt':

"Seppala is a force to be reckoned with. “She has balls of steel,” said one.
Seppala has a reputation for playing hardball in the distressed-debt market — demanding that companies and administrators “stand and deliver” what she believes her investors are due.
From an anonymous building in London’s Mayfair, Seppala and her 15 staff run an $800m (£460m) hedge fund that specialises in investing in troubled companies. It looks for firms whose debts are undervalued and trading at a large discount to their face value.
Sisu is one of a number of hedge funds that, having taken over company debts, are refusing to play by the traditional rules. They are making waves — resorting to the courts and even threatening to bid for companies — to get what they believe is rightly theirs.
Administrators to bankrupt companies accuse the hedge funds of blackmail — holding out and refusing to agree to a deal until they secure a larger payout for themselves — at the expense of other creditors. With the rows often ending in costly long-running legal battles, many administrators, they admit, quietly concede to the demands. “It is like dealing with sharks,” said one."

When ACL offered SISU a reduced rent of £150k, any justification for the move to Sixfields was REMOVED. The offer didn't solve all the problems, far from it. But there was no longer any need to play anywhere other that the Ricoh.

There is NO GOOD REASON for our Club to be playing at bloody Sixfields tomorrow.

But Ms Seppala is a woman who's not used to getting her own way.

The reason Coventry City will play in Northampton tomorrow is that this woman will not lose face and back down, even when it no longer makes sense to continue.

Ultimately she will survive, I've got no doubt about that. My fear is that she is prepared to see our club fold completely rather than change course.

Good post. The only way to deal with bullies is to resist them. Sisu must never get the Ricoh and the fans must start a new club if Sisu won't go. No appeasement.

If you can try to find a way to accept this now, then they have absolutely no hold over us.

Spot on! IMO we need concentrate less on the immediate future, and focus on the long term strategy 20 years +.

AFAIAC this is now about building something strong and sustainable for our kids and their kids, if that means dropping down the pyramid and changing the name and badge slightly, then so be it. The club is already ours, eventually we will get the name and badge back.

IMO, we really do not want any connection to these people, we shouldn't even contemplate trying to do any kind of business with them. Sometimes you just have to accept when a relationship has run it's course, and separation is the only option. I doubt that here will be anything left of the club worth having after they are done, so let's try to move on, and find a way to move forward. They have made it easy for us by moving out of coventry, we will never have a better opportunity to take control.

And, while I understand that we don't need to apply for league entry immediately, we should start planning now, not only for a reborn club, but also for a strategy should Sisu pull out in the near future (i.e. if they realise they have lost the stadium, and the club, us) .We need plan A, plan, B and plan C in place.

But this '150k' rent offer as you state it is not true! Why do people only grasp parts of what they want to hear?

So to rubbish Ernie's case you pick on one point to arbitrarily dispute and the whole argument comes tumbling down does it?

So far SISU have not paid any rent for a year and yet it is the rent which holding us back? f8ck me no wonder the country is in a state if that's the sort of logic that wins arguments.

I appreciate that Ernie. I really hope the pain, hurt and suffering is minimal and brief for everyone, however detaching myself from everything sisu has worked for me, there is nothing they can do that concerns me anymore.

I will never give up on CCFC but I have given up on the people running it, that's why I want us to take it back! I don't suggest abandoning the club, I suggest abandoning the board! I really believe we can have a strong, stable future if we break free from the current operators, and nothing but misery if we let them stay.

We deserve better, we can be better!

Never fear, whatever Joy decides to do, we will be back!

Not sure I follow what you are saying.
As for the rent. Had ACL signed off on the CVA another 590k would have been secured and thus the full rent they were owed paid. Just a thought.
