Don't get having a warm up match against the Lions. Is Root bowling 14 overs for over 100 runs just to protect the other quicks?
The difference in approach is noticeable. We were fucking around in New Zealand playing (losing) white ball games. The Aussies have pretty much all their expected test squad playing domestic red ball games.

Seems to be a constant theme from recent overseas tours that we don't prepare properly with games against local opposition. Touring sides to England nearly always have preparation games against some sort of Lions team.
I'm a lot less confident about this Ashes series having watched some of the sloppy cricket against India and listening to some of the bluster from Stokes and other players/ management.

A lot of people seem far too confident about this series, I'm not seeing it.

The Aussies certainly aren't unbeatable but that's a very different thing to going in expect to win the Ashes.

Still at least we forced Jimmy out the team as he wouldn't still be playing by the time it got to the Ashes.

This team has the ability to do well just needs the brains.
Got to get through the first 25-30 overs of the Duke ball without losing too many wickets then capitalise. Quicks have to be able to bowl with discipline particularly after the 25-30 over mark.
Has to be a big improvement in the fielding and catching from the India series.

So as long as we improve our batting, bowling and fielding we'll be ok.

I think the Aussies are a bit scared. They are on about changing the wickets to suit seamers as they are worried about Wood and Archer but by doing that they are going to English style wickets and playing into our hands.
I'll be surprised if Wood lasts more than 1.5 tests and can see Stokes bowling himself into the ground by the 4th test if Wood isn't playing although Potts might come in as back up if the wickets suit.
We really need Brook to get his focus and play the right shot for the ball that's bowled at him. He played another horrific shot today to get out. If he does get his head down and get decent runs then we will win the series
