Bazball means we no longer play ourselves in, we just go straight into suicide mode.

For all the talk about Crawley & Pope Stokes is averaging under 25 since the Ashes 2 years ago.

Over 350 at lunch is reasonable.

If we can push that anywhere near 400 then you gotta take that and hope our bowling attack turns up for once.

Feels very much a wait until both sides have batted type of game.

Form and fitness have definitely been an issue.

Be interesting to see how Archer gets on, and if he can get through a test match without breaking down

Need to capitalise on the new ball. Big spell for Woakes - only picked because of his record at Lords

I think that mantra should go for every test. Can rarely tell if it's the players or the wicket until they've both had a go.

387 all out, I'd say that's a bit under par on that wicket.
We need to bowl well and take our chances.
Archer could be a key bowler, his pace could be devastating. (If he can stay fit)

Again some really ordinary pace bowling in the first hour.

At the point now where we're relying on the India tail being its usual shambles because we're struggling to get the batters out.

Praying for a couple of quick wickets and then a collapse.

Let's be honest a run-out was probably the only way they were going to take a wicket

Nice of them to pretty much gift us a couple of wickets. Need to get stuck in now, their tail is very weak, a first innings lead should be the target from this position.

Great to see archer back. If he can stay fit for the next 2-3 years would be massive for England

We've come back well at the death.

Scores level after the first innings!

England have to face 2 overs tonight before close.

Please please please Crawley, dont be a tit and get yourself out

Edit, Crawley survived 6 balls and made it to the close of play.
So by my reckoning he'll be out in the first 4 overs tomorrow

It doesn’t feel quite right Pant being injured then coming out to bat but then being injured again when it’s time to keep.

England off-spinner Shoaib Bashir is open to leaving Somerset when his contract expires at the end of the season in order to play more county cricket.

He has been linked and with Briggs leaving there is a space.

Doesn't seem right he can come out and bat at 5 after just 30 odd overs having been off the field for about 80 overs of the England innings.
Protecting against injury isn't the same as being injured.

He needs to be playing more cricket. He's played only played 14 county championship games -thats less than the number of test matches he's played. He's basically learning on the job - which is a terrible indictment of what domestic cricket is producing in terms of spin bowling.

If he can'r keep then he should just be a regular fielder.

perfect example of bazball. few minutes from lunch. Brook smacks a couple of sixes and decides there's no need to play it safe for lunch, just keeps trying to smack them out the ground and gets bowled.

we're in a spot of bother here.

Hmmm, got to take the bad with the good, Brook had relieved pressure and took attack to them with the two scoops (and six) The way the wicket is playing I’m not sure you can just try to block it out. Poor shot selection though and agree we’re in a spot of bother

Brook was such an idiot. Chucked his wicket away just before lunch. India sucked him in and he hadn't got the brains to see it.
They were laughing as he walked off.

3 wickets in 10 overs has changed the game.

Anyone care to guess what a decent target is on this wicket - assuming England's bowlers can find some sort of discipline
