The difference in approach is noticeable. We were fucking around in New Zealand playing (losing) white ball games. The Aussies have pretty much all their expected test squad playing domestic red ball games.Don't get having a warm up match against the Lions. Is Root bowling 14 overs for over 100 runs just to protect the other quicks?
Seems to be a constant theme from recent overseas tours that we don't prepare properly with games against local opposition. Touring sides to England nearly always have preparation games against some sort of Lions team. The difference in approach is noticeable. A lot of people seem far too confident about this series, I'm not seeing it.Seems to be a constant theme from recent overseas tours that we don't prepare properly with games against local opposition. Touring sides to England nearly always have preparation games against some sort of Lions team.
I'm a lot less confident about this Ashes series having watched some of the sloppy cricket against India and listening to some of the bluster from Stokes and other players/ management.
This team has the ability to do well just needs the brains.A lot of people seem far too confident about this series, I'm not seeing it.
The Aussies certainly aren't unbeatable but that's a very different thing to going in expect to win the Ashes.
Still at least we forced Jimmy out the team as he wouldn't still be playing by the time it got to the Ashes.
So as long as we improve our batting, bowling and fielding we'll be ok.This team has the ability to do well just needs the brains.
Got to get through the first 25-30 overs of the Duke ball without losing too many wickets then capitalise. Quicks have to be able to bowl with discipline particularly after the 25-30 over mark.
Has to be a big improvement in the fielding and catching from the India series.
Won’t they be using the dog ball over there (kookaburra)This team has the ability to do well just needs the brains.

Yep. Wasn't concentrating ( much like most of the players in the warm up game). Rest of it applies though.Won’t they be using the dog ball over there (kookaburra)
Here's a quote from 6 months ago, I called it then and im calling it now,Crawley is a walking wicket, surely we can find a better opening batsman.
I have a feeling pope will be the one this series. Has something to prove after losing the vice captaincy. Had a fiver on him being top scorer for England in the series.A lot of this rests on which Brook we get. If the Lions match is anything to go by it could be a good time, not a long time
Pope may as well bat there if he’s only facing an over.Crawley is poor but I dont have an answer as to who is better other than anyone else including any of us.
