Ridiculous stat for Bethell - only faced 387 balls across all formats this summer. That's poor management of a developing young player.

And of course the format he has faced the most balls in is the Hundred. You couldn't make it up.

The stats are even worse than I thought. We are the first team in history to lose 5 quarter-finals in consecutive years.

Added bonus they’ve lost 11 Blast quarter-finals in total, there’s only been 23 years of the competition!

Something wrong with my stream - says England batted first, scored a hatful and now South Africa are in trouble in the 2nd innings

342 run margin of victory. New record for an ODI. Archers bowling quite outstanding

Strangely, despite what some say England aren't a bad team. There were just very very undercooked in the first 2 game.

Not much use winning the third and final match of a series when you're 2-0 down

White ball hundred and the media now want Bethell on the plane for the Ashes. Let him learn red ball cricket first. Wasted a summer when he should have been playing more red ball

Did laugh this morning. Whenever Surrey getting bigger crowds than anyone else gets discussed the Surrey faithful deny having a tube system makes it easier for their supporters than anyone else.

Today the Oval is empty, they're blaming the tube strikes

8:50pm start for a 9 over a side game. Fair fucks to the ground staff because a couple of hours ago you'd have said there was zero chance of a game.

But really what is the point. We're playing in the cold in front of next to nobody in mid September and they're already talking about the outfield being slippy and potential injuries.

Why are there international games on Sunday with t20 finals day on Saturday with a reserve day of Sunday surely the players should be with their counties.

Because they don't give a shit about the T20.

The head of the ECB was on Sky and some of the stuff he was coming out with was absolutely insane. Was claiming the Hundred is going to rival the IPL when in reality half the franchises have been purchased by IPL owners and will be rebranded in line with the IPL teams as has been done in the likes of the CPL and SA20 which you would hardly claim are IPL rivals.

Needs firing if he's that delusional. They've had to hand over marketing to the franchises because they've made such a mess of overseas tv rights etc. They're going to need a ton of Indian players to make it appealing to the key market (cpl and sa20 haven't really done that yet). And it's still going to end up as a 20/20 comp.

Blast finals day, the biggest day in country cricket calendar, and Sky have sent their second tier commentary team.

Even got Bumble out of retirement. Much as I love the bloke it's just another sign that the competition is an inconvenience for the ECB.

Not just that, bad scheduling means some of the best players were away with England. Throw in that decision v Livingstone and it’s a shambles

Surrey, who flew in Zampa for the Hundred final when he hadn't played a single game for them all season are now flying in Indian legspinner Rahul Chaha for the final championship game.

Maybe not such a surprise as Root said a few weeks back he needs more red ball (yet Bethell walks in).
