A simple misunderstanding, it's just one set of brave men playing cricket against another set of brave men.Now tell me that I'm wrong here, but surely playing yourselves is just not allowed, is it?

Did you go??Cracking game at rugby today, big win for the bears.
Meanwhile in Australia
£15 for adults, I think kids are free, or if not free very cheap.Did you go??
Thinking of taking the boys up on Weds.
Does it cost to get in and were all of the chairs taken?!
Also, can you wander in and out?
Saw the set up as was around there at about 6:30.£15 for adults, I think kids are free, or if not free very cheap.
There was a decent amount of seating but not tons, some people were a bit towels on sunbeds but most people were OK and if they left for a while accepted their chair was now free. If you've got camping chairs or something like that you can bring them in.
I didn't leave so no idea on that score. You normally can at Edgbaston so I would guess you can. There's a few food and drink tucks they've bought in but obviously limited.
Was busy but not as busy as last year when every game was pretty much an instant sell out. Guess the novelty factor is gone. Wonder if they'll try and find somewhere else next year and move it around the county.
It could be difficult to move it around a lot if the old grounds are dumps like Griff &Coton the outfield at C&NW is a disgrace it was hardly good enough for the under 12 game my lad played on it last week. At kenilworth wardens on Tuesday so will see what that’s like.£15 for adults, I think kids are free, or if not free very cheap.

The Blast needs revamping but not in an ecb way, it should be played in one block to get the best overseas, I think it was better at the start with less games. While they are there they can kill the hundred it’s still terrible and most people have no affiliation to any of the teams. In completely shocking news that nobody could see coming the ECB are 'revamping' the Blast.
Revamping seems to mean reduce the number of games which will of course fuck over the non-Hundred hosting counties as they are reliant on the Blast for income.
Showing my age a little but I can remember Griff hosting county games in the 1990's. The wicket there would be an 'experience' for county teams now.It could be difficult to move it around a lot if the old grounds are dumps like Griff &Coton the outfield at C&NW is a disgrace it was hardly good enough for the under 12 game my lad played on it last week. Can remember games at C&NW but not Griff. My Dad would tell me about games being played at Courtaulds.Showing my age a little but I can remember Griff hosting county games in the 1990's. The wicket there would be an 'experience' for county teams now.
I went to see Glamorgan and I think Somerset play Warwickshire when I was a young lad.Showing my age a little but I can remember Griff hosting county games in the 1990's. The wicket there would be an 'experience' for county teams now.
There are probably less individual teams but teams have a lot more sides like Corley have four or five sides now. The Highway is a real waste. The price to play is a real problem in adult cricket, fortunately kids cricket is fairly cheap my lad pay a pound per game for Nuneaton. Can remember games at C&NW but not Griff. My Dad would tell me about games being played at Courtaulds.
Sad that there's little chance we'll ever see a game in Cov again. Not sure there's even that much rec cricket around in the area these days. I used to play at Highway but that's disappeared and a lot of the places we used to travel to don't seem to be there anymore.
Always going to happen. Money talks. ECB just bumbling their way forward trying to survive financially. There will come a point where they have nothing left to sell.Another one today from the things the ECB said would never happen file. The IPL team that has invested in Manchester Originals have confirmed their name will be changing to match the IPL brand.
So short sighted. They still seem to be clinging to the idea that these IPL franchises they have bought the teams and are rebranding will happily play this dumb format and not want to change it to a T20 competition.Always going to happen. The Curran’s are a pair of arseholes who believe the hype that the capitals press give them , they are typical Surrey players they wouldn’t even be talked about as England players if they played for any other county.I saw some of Phoenix game yesterday before our game and at HT. Strange behaviour by the Curran boys not only with sledging they were giving to Livingston, I thought it was meant to be a bit more light hearted than an ashes series. Livingston & Bethell were having a laugh with Rashid but none of it with the Currans. I also saw Livingston signal a 6 when Phoenix were bowling when ball landed on sponge boundary, when Phoenix were batting the same thing happened & Tom Curran signalled a 4 and umpires decided he was right (he wasn't!)
Wish I was there rather than stuck in the office! In real cricket Warwickshire have started nicely at Rugby school 84-0 after 12
I’m watching on the stream at home but it looks lovely there and there should be a mountain of runs scored.Wish I was there rather than stuck in the office!
It's like when rugby sold a chunk of their media rights - it sorted short-term cashflow etc but now that crucial revenue stream has gone. ECB have sold a big chunk of their future revenue. So short sighted. They still seem to be clinging to the idea that these IPL franchises they have bought the teams and are rebranding will happily play this dumb format and not want to change it to a T20 competition.
Once that happens how long before the 'why have we got two T20 competitions' conversation starts.
And then why does England need 18 20/20 teams when IPL does so well with just 10 teams.Once that happens how long before the 'why have we got two T20 competitions' conversation starts.
County members are already questioning why they should pay for marginalized competitions (Metro Bank) and reduced number of games (Blast), along with county games being pushed to months when you're not likely to want to sit outside all day.And then why does England need 18 20/20 teams when IPL does so well with just 10 teams.
The traditional Test calendar could lead to bankruptcy for certain nations, Cricket Australia chief Todd Greenberg warned as he called for a slimmed-down schedule.
Thought I was old enough to be dead and gone before the game was totally destroyed but I'm starting to wonder. The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently set up a working group to discuss the Test format and the potential to introduce a two-tier system.
Essentially cricket for people who don’t like cricket/have a low attention span. Can’t stand the Hundred.
That was supposed to be T20Essentially cricket for people who don’t like cricket/have a low attention span.
I dislike both short formats. That was supposed to be T20
But they double it with a women's game so the "day" is much longer.Essentially cricket for people who don’t like cricket/have a low attention span.
Exactly, crowds were growing year on year, streaming was proving to be a big success. Finals day was pretty much the biggest day of domestic cricket every year.Irony is if the ECB & Sky had thrown the resources they have put into the hundred at the existing good T20 competition we propbably wouldn't be in this mess. T20 was a strong tournament that could have been developed further.
I don't disagree that there is room for long and short format. So much snobbery on here. I've watched Cricket for as long as I can remember. Let's not kid ourselves, I've sat at Edgbaston for a county game 25 years ago with barely a soul in the ground apart from the members and corporate areas, this isn't a new phenomenon. The short format its where it's at and that's what the public want.
There is room for both and we've just seen one of the best test series in recent years over here, gripping and exciting in lots of different ways. Anything that brings focus, coverage perhaps a new audience and more importantly much needed finances to the game is only good and if that's the shorter formats whether 100 or 20/20 then so be it. To suggest it's for people who don't enjoy other formats is ludicrous and outdated. It's exciting cricket and probably more akin with the games most of us grew up playing rather than watching.
