This is potentially Woakes last England appearance. 36 and with a serious injury thats going to keep him out for months you've got to wonder.

What a game, what a series! India should have been way ahead after the first couple of games but equally there's no way we should have lost this game from the position we were in.

So many moments you can look back at that not only potentially changed games but the entire series.

Really shouldn’t have lost after all that was done to get into that position. England snatching defeat from victory as per usual.

2-2 is fair over the series. We deserved to win this one though, to come back from all those drops, Woakes not batting at all (running doesn’t count) or bowling second innings, Atkinson coming back from injury and still get so close. What a game though

We lost the game last night when Brook tried pinging his 3rd 4 in a row and spooned it up. Brainless batting as we were cruising to victory and the collapse started there.
Its difficult as he breezed his way to 100 but he really does need to start playing the situation a bit better. Yes we dropped catches (too many) but we had got it in the bag up until that point.

We’ll get smashed in the ashes and it’ll be the end of Bazball imo

I hope not, it’s rejuvenated test cricket in this country. People forget we’d won 1 in 17 before Mccullum and stokes. Yes, plenty of fuck ups etc but also so many memorable moments and games, chasing down scores that was just unheard of before.

There’s been a lot of senseless shots but people don’t account for pressure, conditions, great bowling etc or how aggressive play can put opposition under pressure and change how games play out. we’ve played traditionally/sensibly in patches in this series, it’s hardly the bazball from old where even root was trying crazy shots (doesn’t suit his game). Hopefully we can get players fit and keep improving and be competitive in Australia

Ps Listening to Brook, I think he’s definitely learned from what happened

It is not one or the other. In Test cricket you simply cannot attack all game long and expect to last all that long, it’s real boom and bust stuff.

Knowing when to attack and when to show restraint is what I want to see.

absolutely threw that game away with sloppy cricket. Dropped catches cost them 152 runs. Bethell & Overton were poor picks from the beginning - not their fault (apart from Bethell unnecessarily charging a straight ball) as they just haven't played any red ball cricket.
Highlights we need Archer, Wood and particularly Stokes fit for the Ashes. 3 spot needs looking at and what is the spinning option.
